Primarily, you must understand that as an individual in the United States you live in a free and open society. This social process has as its principal ideal the recognition of the dignity and the worth of each individual. Our system necessitates your understanding certain re sponsibilities, skills and behaviors, you must culti vate the love of truth and justice, actively partici pate in political, econrnic and social life, demon strate loyalty, econmic efficiency, creativity and inventiveness, reverence, and concern for the we fare of others. In addition, it is vital that you de velop your intellectual capabilities to reach deci sions based upon critical thinking as well as the willingness to act consistently with the conclusions reached. We trust that you have been imbued with these con cepts, skills and behaviors during your public school ing in Brockton. Many of these attributes will be tested and strengthened, in the years to come, through further education, vocational occupation and home making.
