Class 0de CHALLENGE lt's time to part from work and fun, Eternal search 'til last. And now, for us, the hour is done. Those wonder days have passed. We search anew ideals most high, Qur eyes cast forward glance, And through it all we hear no sigh, For future gives us chance. Great trials and ioys alike we'll meet. We know God at our side, We'll face life's charge in battle's heat, Go forth with staunchest pride. By EDWARD ALUSOW Class Poem THE TIME OF LIFE Skies are threatening, Thunderheads snatch from sight The gilt and tinsel of Heavens fires, A shadowy stillness forewarus Of saualls and tempests fast approaching. Yet, our horizon is cloudless, Cur hopes undaunted, 'Tis the time of life. The torrent begins With whistling blasts and reckless downpour, As when Aeolus smote the cave of winds, And whirling gales assailed the face of Earth. War? Fear? Illness? Failure? We search our hearts for memories, 'Tis the time of life. The ancient elm bends Beneath repeated blows of April's winds, And torn from roots, the quivering foliage falls. This dancing play of world, its beauty fierce, Overwhelms the passions, hopes, of older men, While we, with joy intense, dare to dare The teeming, shifting blasts of fate, 'Tis the time of life. Then silence reigns, As Neptune chases gathered clouds And once more brings the sunshine back. At eve-the crimson tints of fleeting sun Meet azure shades of twilight, And yet-our day has just begun, More storms, more twilights loom ahead: 'Tis the time of life. By IANICE MAHIORIE CARLSON 4
