The National Honor Society of Secondary Schools was founded by the National Association of Sec- ondary School Principals in l922. The purpose of the organization is to stimulate and recognize high scholarship, constructive leadership, purposeful service, and worthy character. To be eligible for membership a student must maintain a grade average of l.5, derived by considering A:2, B:l, C:O. Those students who attained membership were inducted at a senior assembly and given a certificate and pin with the emblem of the society. lmmediately following the assembly a tea was held and officers chosen. The faculty advisors are Mr. Spencer, Mr. Capernaros, Miss Lindfors, Miss Tobin, and Miss Beaton. 18

The Galloneers is one of the most colorful musical orqanizations in Eastern Massachusetts. Each year they receive many more invitations to sinq than they are able to fulfill. Under the able leadership of Mr. Rodney F. May, director of music, and accompanied by Iohn Meurlinq, as pianist-orqanist, they appear before as many educational and cultural groups as can be arranged. 20
