Second row: Raymond Bussolari, George Gustafson, Richard Green, Iohn McRae, Wayne Richardson, Robert Cunningham, lohn Kirker, Carl Ienkins. Under the able direction of our new coach, Mr. Raymond Bussolari, the cross- country team achieved a record of 4 wins and 4 losses this year. Although the Red and Black harriers did not attain an outstanding record, they proved their mettle in the South Shore meet, in which they placed second, and the State Meet, in which they placed sixth. ln judging these contests it must be realized that in order to win a meet it is necessary for five Brockton men to place before tive of our opponents men, which is by no means an easy feat. The best runner, Richard Pleau, set a record of l2.2l minutes for a 2Vz mile run, 7 seconds better than the previous record. Four ot the six lettermen are seniors: Richard Pleau, George Conefry, Norton Van de Poele, and Charles Cobb, leaving only Paul Westerlund and Iohn Kirker to carry on. The captain was Norton Van de Poele, and the student manager was Iohn Ienkins.
