o our lives Now at this our graduation we do understand and realize the truth of that statement Perhaps some will not appreciate that sentiment until they have left tl e guidance of their parents Others perhaps will never be con xinced that they were the Lest years of their lives But whatever our present feeling few will deny that it is through anticipation or recollection that we achieve the true satisfaction from our efforts hree short years ago when we entered Brockton High School as t1m1d sopho riores we were greatly irrpressed by the dignity and wisdom of the class of lQ44 Then as humble sophomores how longingly did we look forward to our senior year when we could lead the glorious life of the envied upperclassmenl As seniors we found the assignments longer and free hours fewer No it was r ot as glamorous as we had anticipated .Again as we look back to our first senior high school year lif t B H S eemed one whirlwind of bells running between buildings and huntlng for a rc om among the seeming thousands How embarrassing it was when we rushed into the wrong class but how much more so was that once or twice when we did it as an absent minded Junior or senior' But it was not long however before we adiusted ourselves and settled down in the somewhat monotonous pattern But most of us however have survived 13-nd now for a moment let us consider the future On this day of our graduation we look forward to many peaceful years instead of war and strife After serving in the armed forces many of our boys will be able to continue their education cbout military life To the rest of the boys and to all of our girls many new fields of endeavor in peac ful pursuits are calling Very probably the need for our services will be great not only here but abroad Let us trust that We can so plan our lives that we shall never regret our courses of action We all realize however that after adding our high school diplomas to our most valued possessions the process of learning should not stop We hope many will continue their educations by going on to college or vocational training s hools while others who will find immediate employment too will continue adding to their knowledge through practice and study lf a person is ambitious and strives to better himself by outside study the chances of advancement whether in college business or industry are increased Let us remember that knowledge is very seldom wasted Then too there is another point for our serious consideration Until now our lives have been supervised and regulated oy home and school but after gradu ction what we do and what we make of our lives will depend more and more upon ourselves and our own Judgment lt will make no difference to the college professors whether the assignments are completed tests passed and oppor tunrties grasped Neither will it rnake any difference to the employer who Judges olely by tangible results Let us realize early that self reliance is one of the f rst requirements of success End so as we go out into the busy world let us strive to make by charitable and kindly acts the lives of tfios about us happier On this our day of gradu rticn let us humbly thank God for guiding us through t ese past yecrrs and beg Hi rr to assist and watch over us always in our future lives 17 L ' - ' ' I ' , X ' ' l 4 'T' ' I ' - 1 , - K' - 1 -1 1 l , l 1 - 1 l f , ' ' ' - ' - , ' e a . . .
