'llhc G rcat llDTlfC1I8lfOlI'.S In time of national emergency we are all urged to be patriotic by doing this or that, but the highest type of patriotism is at work in times of peace as well as in times of war. True patriotism is a way of living, work- ing, and sacrificing to make the world a better place in which to live. Those who assist on the home front in the struggle for the preservation of human liberties are showing the same high type of patriotism as the soldier who protects the country against foreign foes. The Youth of Amer- ica have already given ample proof that they have the kind of patriotism that will function during the stress of wars or dur- ing times of peace. L. P. BENNETT .E Y- Young People! We are facing a crisis which may change our destinies. This struggle between many forces fighting for control of raw materials, political boundaries, and systems of government is causing the great founda- tions of civilization to tremble. You have an important part to play in these days. Our country demands our most unselflsh and devoted service. Dishonesty and indulgence, laziness and selfseek- ing, frivolity and superficial thinking will undermine the nation more surely than bullets. Gird yourselves for the conflict.
