llfoiuur Years in Palradisfe The girls of America accept the challenge-just as our boys will win the war, our girls will win the peace. Our enemies are just as real and dangerous, these enemies of ignorance, intolerance, hate, selfishness, rumor, and waste. But our weapons are just as real, with loyalty, courage, faith, and unselfish service we will achieve a victory, pre- serving our culture, love of beauty, and high ideals so that we too, will not have fought in vain. at-+ Can. I 7 94445771.4641 There probably never was a time in the history of Broadway when our boys need to think more seriously and thoughtfully of their responsibilities, when they need to listen to good sound advice, and act in a common sense manner, and to serve and sacrifice for their school and coun lv, try than today. The privilege of going to a splendid school, living in a great country, should mean much more to you than the idea of just a good time for yourself and your friends. It should mean that you are ready to serve others and your country in a humble way, wherever and in whatever capacity you Stay in good physical and mental health. Ask for a spiritual guidance to do the right thing for your fellow man and your country. Seek out the wise, human teachers of good things, whoever they may be, and learn the things that will make you a happier and more useful citizen.

'llhc G rcat llDTlfC1I8lfOlI'.S In time of national emergency we are all urged to be patriotic by doing this or that, but the highest type of patriotism is at work in times of peace as well as in times of war. True patriotism is a way of living, work- ing, and sacrificing to make the world a better place in which to live. Those who assist on the home front in the struggle for the preservation of human liberties are showing the same high type of patriotism as the soldier who protects the country against foreign foes. The Youth of Amer- ica have already given ample proof that they have the kind of patriotism that will function during the stress of wars or dur- ing times of peace. L. P. BENNETT .E Y- Young People! We are facing a crisis which may change our destinies. This struggle between many forces fighting for control of raw materials, political boundaries, and systems of government is causing the great founda- tions of civilization to tremble. You have an important part to play in these days. Our country demands our most unselflsh and devoted service. Dishonesty and indulgence, laziness and selfseek- ing, frivolity and superficial thinking will undermine the nation more surely than bullets. Gird yourselves for the conflict. You must not fail your country. t' 6
