HE YEARS from 1904 to 1940 have been eventful ones for the BROADWAY boys and girls who have made up the endless pro- cession of students coming and going with each succeeding year. Faithfully, student staffs under the guidance of competent instructors have year by year recorded in the SEALTH by printed words and pictures the many activities in which these pupils have participated, lVlay'rhe CLASS or 1940 always cherish the memories oftheir four years at BROAD' WAY, and may the members of the Class, as they leave BROADWAY to engage in diH'erent activities, carry with them an urge to live up to their new responsibilities and to discover new capabilities for living and growing. L, iii? 'mix HEADS 0 F 'ir H a F A in I L Y glt, 3,gggHt.- A CHAl,l,l'1NGli TO YOUTH ROADWAY has had its great events and outstanding men and women. Probably 1939-40 is no exception. To some, the passing of the year has meant little. They have caught no visiong have felt no great impulses to achieve- ment: have counted no gains. ln these troublous days, when there is so much in the world of strife and hatred, uncertainty and disaster. when literally one-half of the world is engaged in a life- and-death struggle, it seems so important that boys and girls of high school age should take life seriously and capitalize on every opportunity. Surely our country can never be great if the boys and girls of our country do not find the best in its life, or do not rise to the responsibilities and opportunities of citizenship. It is to be sincerely hoped that the l939- -EO student body has caught some of this vision of responsibility, and may take their place some day in making this com- munity, this state, this nation, yes, the world, a better place in which to live.
