Chorus The Concert Chorus prepared two major programs this year. The Christmas program was canceled because of snow but was taped at WSVA and shown on television. The Spring Concert included selections from Godspell. The Chorus also provided a program for the school during the second semester. The Broadway High 92 The Broadway High School Band fulfills the functions of both a marching and concert band. The band regularly participates in the Christmas and Homecoming parades held in Broadway. The more important ones are the Christmas parade in Harrisonburg, the Friends of Feathers parade held in May, and the Vet¬ eran ' s parade in which the band placed third this year. During March the band participates in the District Festival held at Madison College this year. Some students will be playing in Regional at Montevido. The highlight of the year is the Spring Concert, in which the Band and Chorus both participate. At this con¬ cert, the Seniors are recognized for being in the band four years. School Band Student Council The Student Council Association annually plans the homecoming festivities, which this year included a parade, bonfire, and a dance in the cafeteria after the homecoming game. The Council ' s most notable accomplishment this year has been being ac¬ cepted for membership in the state SCA. Mr. Moyers is the ad¬ viser. 94 The VICA club ' s fund raising project this year was a candy sale. The employer — employee banquet each spring climaxes a year of hard work. VICA 1 “Yesterday Once More was the theme of the homecoming parade and the club ' s float based on the Time Machine won third place. 95 Eli Drama Club A portion of the diverse talents of the drama club members is exhibited by this picture. Other great talents were seen this year in the double-casting of The Marriage Proposal ' and The Wake, a religious drama presented for the One-Act Play Festival. Library Club Those students who are interested in assisting Mrs. Hollar, the librarian, in checking in and out books, finding research materi¬ als, and generally keeping the library straight, can work during their study hall. The library never seems lonely with all these willing students. Future Farmers of America The FFA fund raising activity was the sale of citrus fruit before Christmas. The club used the money from this project to develop a park for Building Our American Communities. The members built picnic tables and playground equipment tc park. The money for this project comes from selling popcorn, candy and drinks at football and basketball games. It operated on Tuesdays and Thursdays before school. School supplies such as paper, pens, and typing paper were sold. The Soci¬ ety also sponsored monthly projects, among them a dinner for retired citi¬ zens, a visit to the childrens ' ward at the hospital, and a kite-flying contest.
