LIBRARY Mrs. Louise G. Showman There is a vast amount of knowledge contained in the li¬ brary. The card catalogue assists students in locating information and books needed for research. The books in the reference room aid students who are working on reports and term papers. Students also make much use of the various encyclopedias. There is also a variety of good reading material for both enter¬ tainment and enrichment. Contemporary magazines and daily newspapers are available for the student. Debbie Wittig explores another world in our library. SPECIAL EDUCATION Mrs. Lantz gives her special education class a lesson in banking. Mrs. Josephine Lantz Equal educational opportunities are provided for all students, but this does not mean that all can profit from the standard curriculum. Their educational needs vary according to their individual differences. In special education individual needs are met. The classes are small thereby giving the teacher opportunity to work with each pupil. 27

Civics concerns government and the rights and duties of citizens. United States government is concerned with how our federal government is organized and operated. A study of communism is incorporated in the United States government course. In world history one sees the forces that have molded the world from the beginning of time until present day. In American history one studies the life of the American nation. 26

NON TEACHING PERSONNEL Early each morning the cooks begin preparing food for all the hungry students at Broadway High. The job of the janitors is to keep the school clean.
