FOREWORD THE SOUL IS PLACED IN THE BODY LIKE A ROUGH DIAMOND AND MUST BE POLISHED, OR THE LUSTER OF IT WILL NEVER AP¬ PEAR. DANIEL DEFOE 4 SENIOR MESSAGE Mr. J. FRANK HILLYARD, Principal Dear Mr. Hillyard, We take this opportunity to try to express to you our appreciation for the things you have done for us and for the hours you have invested in our welfare and our future. At this early period in our lives it is difficult for us to realize how numerous the obstacles in our paths have been for with your guidance we have passed them unawares. We wish you continued success and honestly hope that in the years to come you shall impart to our children the same influence, interest, and concern you have so generously bestowed upon us. Sincerely, The Senior Class of 1957 5 TABLE Of CONTENTS FACULTY . . . • • Page 7 • SENIORS •• •••••• • Page 1] • 4 UNDERCLASSMEN.Page 27 • • « ACTIVITIES . • • Page 47 • • ATHLETICS . Page 63 . . We were ready To venture forth Into another School year, Under the resolute Guidance of Mr. Hillyard And faculty. Rental books Were distributed; The Magazine Campaign Launched. Interest grew Enthusiasm increased As we united against The Common Enemy . . . Our football opponents. The student body Rallied behind The team. Not only Was the team Inspired, But . . . Cupid scored a Touchdown! Through success And failure The coach Team School Were loyally Supported. Classes were tackled With renewed vigor, Each individual hoping to add Another rung in the ladder Toward Graduation. Minds turned Reluctantly from Pleasure to the More serious things. But soon B.H.S. Settled down To the old routine. A • 1 ' 1 r.t Z. 1 1 Activities relieved the boredom. Our future outlook for Scientists Businessmen Entertainers Seemed promising. Although promising, Much hard work Lies ahead. But with the help Of our sponsors, These activities Will prove Stepping stones To our careers. Nights of hard work For the Mixed Chorus Were made manifest With the successful Presentation of THE FORTUNE TELLER. I L Eli, Not to be outdone, Exhibited its talents In THE OLD MAN’S MONEY Class assemblies Were introduced With members Of the student body Having the opportunity To participate. While from the gym Came the Hollow sound of Bouncing haskethalls, Echoing shouts Of the coaches, Ringing cheers Of the fans. Basketball season Was here. Boys and girls alike Applied themselves To the best of Their abilities. 77 To our school life Many new things Were added. Things which Gave us Beauty Knowledge Truths. With the new things Still remain The old: Exams Report cards Good grades! Bad grades! m tm pfe- ' T.V? t J 0 A The everyday hustle Still prevailed. The sound of the bell Brought the halls to life, Students rushing . . . Some to classes, Some to more Pleasant things! Who can forget The very thoughtful People who are So essential to Our well-being. And without whom Our school would be Vitally lacking . There were Wonderful times Not to be Forgotten. But with the Good times that Are past, The greater portion Of our lives Lies ahead. School is only A step on our Journey through life, But from B.H.S. We will Forever retain MEMORIES. 80 ADS Patronize those who have helped us publish our yearbook. We appreciate each one.
