Mr. J. Frank Hillyard, PRINCIPAL Principal ' s Message A vast number of men and women who are really capable of doing great things do small things and live mediocre lives because they do not expect or demand enough of themselves. We fail to see that we can control our own destiny, make ourselves do whatever is possible, and make ourselves become whatever we long to be. There is something in the atmosphere in the presence of a man who believes that he is going to win out—something in his appearance that wins half the battle before a blow is struck. The miracles of civilization have been performed by men and women of great self-confidence, who had unwavering faith in their power to accomplish the tasks they undertook. If I were to give but one word of advice, it wbuld be this: Believe in yourself with all your might.” That is, believe that there is a power within you which if awak¬ ened, aroused, developed, and matched with honest effort will not only make a noble man or woman of you but will also make you successful and happy. 5

Foreword As we seniors go forward We pause for a irtoment to Renew our determination for attaining Our goal—and even as we pause We see opportunity bidding us come. And though we go forward Our hearts and minds turn once more To the hours spent at Broadway High. Good hours, all— Pleasant hours filled with the Dearest of memories. Hours well worth our while: In which we achieved a goal In which a character was molded In which the value of loyalty was found In which scholarship was realized.
