The man who lacks ambition doesnât reach any goal at all, doesnât get anywhere. He accomplishes very little, however well-meaning he may be. Humble birth and handicaps of every sort will not prevent success if you are deterÂŹ mined to succeed. Have faith in yourself and the courage to stand by your convictions and you will go forward. To every man there openeth A Way, and Ways, and a Way, And the High Soul climbs the High Way, And the Low Soul gropes the Low, And in between, on the misty flats, The rest drift to and fro. Absent âCarolyn Nash The school paper for 1953-54 was published by two groups. In a pre-school conference, the English teachers adopted the policy of having the eleventh grade to take the main responsibility in publishing the news paper. The first group was a planning group with the members representing the grades. The eleventh grade members were chosen by vote in their respective English classes, the others were chosen by their English teachers. The representative of respective grades were twelfth grade, Helen Swats; eleventh grade, Shelby Funk, Carroll Manning, and Nancy Driver; tenth grade, Robert Showalter; ninth grade, Betty Miller; eighth grade, Faye Detrick. These people planned the general theme and contents of the paper. The second group was the publication group. This group wrote the articles and sent the paper to the press. The following eleventh graders formed this group: Gail Lytton, Barbara Ikenberry, Carolyn Nash, Nancy Walton, June Wine, Ellen Reed, Mildred Wine, Lois Huffman, Jo Ann Neff, Phyllis Shifflett, Evelyn Ritchie, Katherine Ryman, Phyllis Strickler. The paper was published six times during the year and was printed by Brannerâs Printing Service of Broadway. Our sponsor was Mrs. Wampler. Have you thought of the world of tomorrow that your son or daughter will face? For them to get ahead in this new world of opportunity, a high school education will be only a beginÂŹ ning. Business and industry of tomorrow will demand college training as a prerequiÂŹ site. The young man or woman who marches into the world of tomorrow with untrained hands will be doomed to mediocrity. They will be just square pegs in round holes. Life insurance is the only way that a father can solve this financial problem with certainty. Let us show you how you can be certain that your son or daughter will get the training that will start them off right in the WORLD OF TOMMOROW. J. L. Oometimes it is the nature of a craft to create an unbreakable tie between itself and the worker in that held, a heart attachment equal to lifetime devotion. One familiar example is PRINTING. Once editor, once compositor, or pressÂŹ man catches the spirit of the shop, the spell is seldom broken. Like the odor of a camp hre, or a whiff of salt air, the beloved tang of printerâs ink, symboliÂŹ cal of a great profession, gets into your heart and soul. School Annuals, Magazines, Newspapers and Special Printing, all smack of it. It is an invisible link that binds all intelligence together. It is the stimulus for creation in business or romance. This craftsmanship, this devotion to service and alertÂŹ ness to business needs, has nourished and developed an enormous industrial vitality, and whichever way the course of the future runs, the printer will always find himself able to adapt his helpfulness to new opportunity. Years of experience have taught us! Printing Pays Us Only When It Pays Yon!
