This picture shows Barbie Baird, 1970 presi- dent of the Lloyd DeWitt Chapter of the National Honor Society, presiding over the induction ceremonies held May 14. This year's induction ceremony was more infor- mal rhan those in years previous. In hopes of making Honor Society seem more human and real, and a more integral part of the school, the traditional roses, white table- cloth, reception of tea and cookies and long speeches were replaced by short, ver- nacular speeches and a revised swearing-in procedure. The three provisional members of 1970 became the regular members of the 1971 chapter. Pictured are Dave Mosdal, Margaret Stiles and Ann Heiken. NHS The Lloyd DeWitt Chapter was sponsored by Dave Gift this year. The three admin- istrative offices were held by the only three who were eligible: President: Barbie Baird Vice-President: Midji Stephenson Secretary-Treasurer: Kathy Mosdal These three girls' status as regular mem- bers made them eligible to hold office. The provisional members are denied this privilege until they become regular mem- bers. The NHS performed acts of service: serving at the Annual GTA supper and es- tablishing College Week fa week during which the student body was supplied with various material regarding colleges, trade schools, etc. and information about admis- sion, scholarships and expenses.j Their activities included a trip to see Anne of a Thousand Days. Becky Adams, Valda Fortney and Denise Bogden Q in absentiaj were installed as pro- visional members, eligible for regular mem- bership next year.
