Back row: Coach Dale Wetzel, Keith Nelson, Robert Kallem, John Wilken, Dale Ostwald and Manager Don Hegg. Nine boys were eligible for basketball this year. The only senior, John Wilken, played center. Keith Nelson and Dale Ostwald, juniors, both played forward. Wayne Ostwald, freshman, and Paul Calhoun, sophomore, were guards. Robert Wilken and Rbbert Kallem, juniors, Montie Auer, sophomore, and Bobby Tew, freshman, served as substitutes. The first semester Tony Degele, junior, played guard and Norman Haworth, sophomore, was a substitute. The boys had a very .successful season this year with six wins and four losses in conference play, and five wins and three losses in non conference play. In the tournament the Pirates advanced to the championship game by defeating Rapel je and Melstone. They received second place and were challenged by Mussel- shell and defeated and therefore came home with the third place trophy. The freshman president is Ann Conover. Bobby Tew is vice president. Dennis Brown holds the office of secretary-treasure and Bud Comley will be reporter. Mr. Jarvis sponsor's the group. They have chosen the rink carnation as their class flower and pink and black as their class colors. UOur Future is What We Make Itn is the class motto, the students with no sponsor but the teachers will supervise. Subscriptions are now being sold by Anitadansma John Wilken, Donald Hegg, Keith Nelson and Kay Conover at 251.00 , QCQOOI lays high school. Mr. Wetzel is a high school graduate of Zap, North Dakota, He received his B. S. degree from the State Teachers Colle g e, Dickinson, North Dakota. He also has attended State Teachers College, Valley City, North D ak o tag Northwestern University, Chicago, Illinois, Cornell University, Ithica, Nev York. This summer heworked on his M. S. deoree at Montana State University. He has a major in mathe- matics, and minors in I Conti need on page 73
