'S 1 ' - o.: I Broadalbm Hugh School The Broadalbm School was centralized IH May 1930 An appropriation for a new bulldxng was voted ln December 1931 The plans were finally approved ln September 1932 and m December 1933 the proJect was undertaken by the P W A The bonds amounted to S140 000 and the outright allot ment came to 535000 The project was actually bevun m May 1934 and completed on January 7 1935 The registration ln the academic department ln September 1930 was 78 but In January 1935 lt Our new edifice IS situated on a hxll overlookmg the vxllage It is thoroughly equlpped wxth every advantage for the pupils Both the puplls and public apprecnate their new bunldmg There are located on the first floor the audltorlum cafeterla office and the 6th 7th and 8th grades A the second floor IS one of the finest llbrarles in this section The llbrary IS also used as a study, nall Then there 'ue the class rooms of the High School and a well equlpped laboratory Certainly with as fine a school as this the pupils ought to do thelr best to succeed ln their work ls I I I I 7 ' I V v I . v ' V . . . . , I ' u ' ' 43 I v v 1 'J - ' . Broadalbm Hugh School Library The Broadalbln High School Library IS sltuatcd on the second floor of the school and occuples alf of the north corrldor It has a seating capaclty of ffty slx There are elght rectangular tables seating SIX each and two round tables seatln four each 'Ihere IS a U shaped charging desk a dlsplay case a vcrtlcal file a card catalog wlth fifteen trays a dlttlonary stand a magazine and newspaper unlt d a book truck There are elffhteen unlts of shelvlng standard height and five unlts of counter helght oak Wlth a hlghly polished surface The chairs axe modernlstlc ln design The library was equipped by Gaylord Bros of Syracuse There are eight bullctln boards ln the room affording room for much dlsplay At the left of the llbrary is a conference rocm separated from the maln library by glass paxtl tions The conference room seats thlrty more PUDIIS nd IS equlpped Wlth blackboards so that lt maybe used as a class room The library has nlne large YVlHdCAVS and the conference room three more so that there IS plenty of light Both rooms haxe parquet floors and an electrlc clock and radlo The books are 0185516611 accordlng to the Dewey declmal system and each section and shelf is labeled The magazlnes are arranged ln transparent covers allowing a dlsplay of the plcture cover 'lhe wertlcal file IS equlpped wlth cllpplngs and plctures and the book selectlon is cataloged The llbrary is used as a study hall and reading room comblned and IS ln constant use A teache and student llbrarlan are on duty each perlod and there are three regular llbrary perlods of whlch the llbrarlan has charge I6 ,W . .- , ., . .
