ACTIVITIES A gay old time was had at our Sox Hops which were Feld after the Northwood and Garner games It was a new experience for all of us 'm sure the High School would like to thank the Juniors for making them success annual Hare and Hound B nt was held on October 29, 1946 This year the Juniors were winners The Seniors put up a fight, but we just couldn't talk or act fast enough The Junior Class Play was held in the Auditorium on December 17, 1946 The name of the play was 'The Groom Said No ' It was dramatized very well by the characters chosen from the Junior Clase The director was Irs Jim Fox As we are going to press, the Seniors are making plans to present the class play, 'It's lever Too Late,' a three act comedy, on lay 9 1947 The annual music contest was held in Clear lake this year Our band director and vocal teacher were very well pleased with our returns Our band was rated in Division I, after an excellent performance All c ntest ants earned Divisions I and II We were very happy about the whole thing A committee was chosen from the Sociology class to get together a plan for a new 'Teen Club As far as I have heard they are doing very Doc Copas, Joan Larson, Shirley Whitney, Bill Puffer, Kenneth Watson, and Jean Ann Faust we are hoping that this club will be a success, like our other one lr Fox is the sponsor of the group A charming spring scene was chosen for the theme of the Romemaking Style Show this year The Homemaking I girls displayed dresses made of cotton, while Homemaking Il displayed wool fabrics A party was held afterwards in the Home Ec Department for the parents, at which punch and cookies were served Two clubs have been organized this year in our school The Elgle Club and the Home Ee Club The Eagle Club is working to make the organi sation a success in future years The Eagle Club has the privilege of initating the boys who are out to earn a 'B A clever initiation was chosen this year The boys were told to wear dresses, ribbons, and make up on their face One boy was told to grow a beard You'd be surprised at the resemblance of the boys to their sisters in such an attire The Home Ec Club is doing very many interesting things, sponsoring the Style Show, Pot Luck Suppers, hikes, hobbies, etc A few of the girls hope to accompany Miss Upton to a convention for Home Ec Clubs all over the State of Iowa held in Ames this summer As we go to press, we look forward to the climax of activities pro gram, the Junior Senior Bhnquet on lay 12, l9h7 . . 1 a The , g e . N.-f The Hancock County Tournament held in Klemme was a very exfiting one Britt and Klemme reached the finals, with Klemne winnin the m b tw S Sl 0 Y o p 1nts g3:9tSft:1:D Brigt girls had a tough time keeping the little Klemme boys ouiet crow w ich w s there then girls were fortunate to Hnd as good as Seats, even though rear such small boys The Secti nal Tournament was held at Forest City thls year Britt's fxrst opponent was Tltonka We were eliminated from this tournament wh n Titonke defeated us by a score of AO 30 The inter class meets were held again this year and, of course, the Seniors won In the first round the Senior beat the Sophmores, and the Juniors beet the Freshmen The Freshman were tzken by the Sophmores and the Juniors were beaten by the Seniors That left the Seniors as champions and the Sophmores coming in second ion of Ur Crockett, Vocational Agriculture Teacher is composed of thirty nine members The two classes involved are Farm Shop and Farm lanagpment The boys are making farm equlpment to be sold to farmers as a means of rsising funds for the club This year, l vls and Thelna were chosen to serve as the nucleus of the Cheer Leaders being x members last year Two new leaders, Lois Galloway and Jalene Smith from the 12 who tried out at the Belmond football game The Hot lunch System has been set up in our school This is quite a help to the farm children who have been bringing their lunches to school The Juniors and Seniors are looking forward to their lay breakfast held on lay 22 in the Home Economics Department The Seniors serve the Juniors at this time Baccalaureate will be lay 18 this year This is the first step leading 'To the finish yet the beginning for the Seniors going out into the world The big night for we Seniors is Commencement which is on May 22 They will receive their diplomas and all will be congratulated Wonder how many wet eyes will be seen that night Ah !Yes Skip Day. This is the day. This year there will be a group of cars going to Ames for Veishee. we are going on Friday, May 16, which is called High School Day. All of us are looking forward to that day because it is the last time everyone will be together. The F.F. A., a new organization formed by a group of boys under instruct- , H . O . ll! m O
