Memory is a fragile thing- A bee's honey and its sting! NEWTON In a short time the Log will lose its immediate appeal. In a short time, too, it will serve as some 'adult's key to reminiscence. As remembrance is a s purpose, the Log serves well the reader to remember Dedication For her devotion to the teaching profession, to her students, and Bristow High School, We, the Log Staff proudly dedicate The 1965 Log to Mrs. Clara Jones. Mrs. jones, who during the past seven years has taught at BHS, has inspired many students to strive for the same goals in learning which she herself has already attained. It is with sincere appreciation for all that she has given of herself to her students that we make this dedication. W 5 nmmk 'nxmi-a 4l?w:fH fm v . W. Their efforts make possible the chronicling of the events of this year. The record will become increasingly valuable as the years pass and memories fade. I am hopeful that you will make your appreciation known to these people, a pat on the back, a job well-done. Sincerely, hr Prineipalas Message 5 . 4n iN r ilu-up-Q... ROSEMARY LEFORCE, REGISTRAR To the Students of Bristow High School: Many years will come and go, but I believe 1964-65 has been one of the best, and most rewarding years I have spent in our school. I never cease to be amazed at the accomplishments of our graduates, but I am also amazed at the way you, the student body, pick up each year where the others have left off, and begin anew, to make the year successful for those of you who are left behind for a few more years. It is this success I am speaking of, and I remind you of this because you, the student body, make up our school -what it is, what it will become, and what guidance will do for those who follow. Yes, we are justly proud of each of you for making our school the great school that it has become. gfagfmdvq, Board of Education 1 Fi? Lefz to Right: H. H. Sims, Superintendent of Schoolsg J. C. Hudson, Clerkg Ray Couch, member: Levan Kelly, Presidentg Mrs. Dorothy McAdams, Vice-Pres.g Jack Wagoner, Member. The LOG Staff of Bristow High School recognizes the many fine contributions the members of the school board have made to the betterment of our schools. The members of the Board of Education serve without pay, and are elected to their offices. We feel also, that a progressively thinking school board is one of the greatest attributes to any school system. We offer our thanks, with that of many others, to the members of the Bristow Board of Education for their unselfish service to Bristow's schools. SUE AUXER B.S. Phys. Ed. This method, consequently, has been adopted as the annual project of the Junior Class. This year, the magazine sales took place the last week in September through the first week of October. The Class was divided into 4 teams. Each team selected a captain. Then the competition began. The Sales got off to a magnificent start. 35300.00 was turned in the first day. The Seniors were pleased, jubilant, delirious! They were sure the juniors wouldn't surpass their record of 352400005 but if sales kept going like this, they certainly weren't going to starve. They were too confident. Their jubilancy didn't last long. Mysteriously the sales dropped steadily until the low point was hit at an average of 3530.00 per team one day. The Seniors lost their confidence. They began to get that lean and hungry look. They also saw the Juniors in a new light. The state of their stomach, on a night in May, was in the hands of their subordinates. There was a new era of gentleness and respect in the Senior Class. Meanwhile each morning, over the intercom, team captains blasted, encouraged, or congratulated their teams, depending on how they had done in competition the night before. To make competition keener, prizes were awarded to each day's high salesman. At the end of the 2 weeks, special prizes were also awarded to those who had sold a specified number of bonus magazines. The sales kept up at a snail's pace, and kept the Seniors on edge. They began berating the Juniors over the intercom. Sales got even slower. Finally the last day came. The Juniors had barely passed the 32,000 in 13 days. The Seniors were frantic. Lined and grayed with worry they listened. The juniors had a surprise in store for their Seniors. The last day the subscriptions poured in and the Seniors of '66 set a new record with nearly 33000.00 The Seniors were relieved about the state of their stomachs on that night in May. Many spirited juniors who passed the 20 magazine mark received football blankets just in time for basket- ball season. All the prizes were awarded in the first Junior Assembly.
