'Under Blackburxfs guidance, the team learned to light hard and to work together. They reached their peak in the last of the season, soundly trouncing the favored Guthrie Bluejays, 26361 This win, combined with a forfeit victory from Chilocco, gavegh Pirates a tie for fifth place in the rugged 8A Conference. Outsider H Conference, the Pirates played their best game against Wewoka, tip. setting the speedy Tigers, 20-14. The Pirate losses for the seasos ,R P 2 came at the hands of powerhouses Ponca City, Stillwater, and hpulpa, fand. at fthe hands of the more evenly matched Blackwely Q 0 . . . . . W' K , Cushing, and Perry teams. Even while losing, the Pirates ek good sportsmanship and fought hard. In virtually every X game the Bristowqgns received fewer penalties than their opponents. ,, 1
