Business trains us 121' ofjqce work. The Business Department prepares students who usually wish to enter the field of business immediately after graduation. Among the courses offered, bookkeeping and stenography are probably the most valuable to the future office worker. Of course, every student in any curriculum realizes the value of typing skill. Our splendid Business teachers succeed in making classes interesting as well as educational. Even students not in the Busi- ness course find this world of adding machines, mimeograph machines, and dictaphones quite intriguing. The Business students themselves are, of course, the first to appreciate the knowledge they gained in Commercial Arithmetic or Office Practiceg for they are the people who will make our big business concerns, factories, and stores run smoothly and efficiently. Science gives the student an appreciation of nature and the perfect organization of the universe. Through the efforts of our superb teachers the happenings in the world around us are explained. Seemingly complicated occurrences are found to have relatively simple explanations while the happenings we take for granted often prove to be amazing phenomena. Many students find the various science courses fascinating. Dissecting a frog, preparing oxygen, analyzing a solution, or demonstrating a system of levers are activities symbolizing the various courses offered in the scientific held. The emphasis on science in schools today is rapidly increasing to meet the world's demand for scientists. Who knows that BHS might not produce another Einstein? SCIENCE DEPARTMENT. Our girls find the Home Economics Department most useful and practical. Not only do they learn the valuable art of boiling potatoes or pinning a pattern, but they also grasp the technique of managing a home efficiently and economically. Keeping a budget and vacuuming the livingroom become just as important as broiling a steak for dinner. Our able, experienced teachers are the guides in improving a girl's homemaking talents. They enjoy their work and hope to pass on their feelings to the students who take their courses. Learning to cooperate with other people and enjoying the task at hand are probably the most important things a girl learns from her Home Economics courses. This will have to be done over again, says Miss Whipple to Janice Chartier in Homemaking class. I 'V'
