We remember that thrs was because the puprls were tryrng to srgn the scroll wrthout havrng Mr Cottle see rt Those of us who sat close enough to see the look on Mr Cottles face knew that the weeks of srlent anxrety had not been rn varn lt was at thrs same affarr that Barbara Phelan showed her outstandrng oratorrcal abrlrtres ln May of thrs year several members of our class were rnrtrated rnto the Natronal Honor Socrety Among these were Eleanor Tonn George Meyer Brta Large Ted Bunnell Dorothy Froelrch Dorothea Gustafson and Marcra Berchelt About thrs same trme the Tennrs Club dances sponsored by the Grrls Federatron were held Because they were rn the hrgh school gymnasrum mstead of at the Armory rt was necessary to hold two mstead of the usual one Desprte gas ratronrng and the trre srtuatron we all admrt that we had a wonderful trme Brta Large and Mary Drrscoll wrth the ard of Mrss Whrpple drd much to make these the great successes that they were Thrs year our football team went on to capture the C C l L At frrst thrngs looked pretty good for our basketball team but we wound up wrth eleven vrctorres and seven defeats The baseball season found Harry Hrntz and Brnks Fanellr veterans and well able to carry on Many of our athletrc affarrs were made more rnterestrng by the appearance of the Marorettes who made aurte a hrt wrth everyone lune was raprdly approachrng We were ready to leave school but not wrllrng to forget the fact that rn the forthcomrng year we should frnally attarn our exalted posrtron as Senrors Although thrs was only the end of our thrrd year of hrgh school rt was the real end of Mr Cottles Hrgh School career We felt rn a way that school would never b the same l am sure that every member of the class Jorns wrth me rn thankrng hrm for hrs excellent gurdance and true frrendshrp through these years durrng whrch he was wrth us and to wrsh hrm the best of luck health and happrness throughout th remarnder of hrs lrfe September 1943 was our last round up Thrs our senror year was per haps the most rmportant pornt rn our hrgh school lrfe Yet we rmmedrately drscovered that berng a Senror was not altogether blrssful We had never clrmbed so many starrs before rn our lrves at least not frve trmes a dayll The 67 . , - , . 1 1 - 1 1 1 1 . . 11 . 11 1 1 . 1 . 11 . 11 . .
