CLASS HISTORY On September 3, 1948, thirty-two little Freshmen began their long and ardous journey through Bristol High. Mr. Smith was drafted as our sponsor and under his guidance we attained a fair degree of social standing. The Seniors initiated us into the mysteries of high school life and then gave us a skating party, which honor we returned in the spring. Alecia Teall as president, Mary Juday as vice- president, Beverly Miller as secretary, and Jim Houseworth as treasurer steered our class into the Sophomore year. This year with two less members, we had as our class leaders Roy Kirkdorffer, Mary Juday, Ned Gates and Phyllis Moran. This was the year we chose our class colors,- -maroon and white, our class flower--American Beauty and white roses, and our class motto -- Workers Nor Shirkers . We also ordered our class sweaters in the fall. Miss Van Harlingen and Mr. Sample sponsored our class and with their help we sold a record number of magazines. Feeling very proud of ourselves we decided to advance another year. In September, 1950, thirty- two of us came back as aggressive Juniors. Jim Houseworth, Ned Gates, Sharol Weaver and Alecia Teall were chosen as our class officers. On Halloween we sponsored the Traditional Junior Carnival . Some of our members were chosen to act as newspapermen and starting with the December issue we published the Hilltopper Herald. Then in the spring, with the able assistance of Miss Mishler and Mrs. Whiteman, we gave a smash hit play-- Our Miss Brooks . We ended the year by honoring the Sen- iors with a Prom. Then we were Seniors! There were only Z8 of us in September, 1951. So much had to be done this year that we started our activities at once with apple-picking at Clark's Orchards. We elected all girls to lead us this year--Mary Juday, Patty Schieber, Sharol Weaver and Phyllis Moran. ln October the remaining Z7 of us initiated the Freshmen and gave them a skating party. In November we started practicing for our play, One Foot In Heaven ,which was presented December 15, under the direction of Mrs. Cripe and Mr. Thompson. The class had a lovely trip in the spring and returned just in time for the Prom. Then one night in May, our journey being completed through beloved Bristol High, we were graduated in the presence of our parents and friends. I6
