He is so much more than an advisor and a teacher, he is a friend, to be trusted and valued. The single affect of his impact upon our lives can never be measured, like his allegiance cannot be bought. We knew he’d be there — angry at our errors and triumphant at our victories. In a sense, we grew up together, experiencing being a class and working as a whole. We hope we are a good reflection of his efforts. We thank him for his countless and untold actions which have brought us to this point. Hopefully, his spirit and guidance will remain with us forever. 5 V V ... 1 r FACULTY ORGANIZATIONS UNDER- CLASSMEN CONTENTS 8 9 n ±tdX t ca£[ 15 16 Administration Faculty IN MEMORY OF 11 is never easy to adapt to change, especially when change means the absence of one we love. Although others have learned to fill his void, as the head of the Business Department and the National Honor Society advisor, none can replace him in the hearts of the students and faculty. We have been told to move forward and look to tomorrow, but. when we do look back, it will be a remembrance of respect, pride, and the caring which he extended toward us. 18 NATALE CANDELMO SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS Stephen Grellet was a French-born Quaker who died in New Jersey in 1855. Grellet would be unknown to the world today except for a few lines which made him immortal. The familiar lines, which have served as an inspiration to so many people, are these: I shall pass through this world but once. Any good that 1 can do, or any kindness that 1 can show any human being, let me do it now and not defer it. For 1 shall not pass this way again.” This is a good message for all of us to keep in mind as we pass through life. Best wishes to the Class of 1979. Ennis J. K.C. 123 CLASS HISTORY In September of 1974, we the Class of 1979, first entered Bristol High School, as the eighth grade. With our officers. President, Emmet Linn, Vice President, Mary Ellen Matrone, Secretary, Mary Lynn O'Brien, and Treasurer, Karen Luther we learned the ways of our school. The biggest achievement of that first year was the Eighth Grade Dance held on April 5, 1975, in the cafeteria. Appropriately, the theme was “The Long and Winding Road.” As Freshmen, we enjoyed a wider range of activities, such as the freshmen sports program. Our new officers were President, Emmet Linn. Vice President, Ira Freehof, Secretary, Mary Lynn O’Brien and Treasurer, Karen Luther. The Freshman Frolic was our first semi-formal dance. It was held on May 22, 1976 under the theme “Imagine.” We were led in our Sophomore year by President, Emmet Linn, Vice President, Ira Freehof, Secretary, Bonnie Sullivan, and Treasurer, Karen Luther. We are especially proud to note that we were the first sophomore class to ever receive permission to hold the Sophomore Hop off school grounds. It was held on May 12, 1977 at the Castle Restaurant. The theme was “Holding on to Yesterday.” The Class officers for our Junior year were President, Thomas Fay, Vice President. Patricia Donovan. Secretary, Bonnie Sullivan and Treasurer Karen Luther. Along with the Prom, we experienced the Christmas Dance, receiving our rings, taking our formats for the yearbook, and ushering for Graduation. All these were all too sudden realities that we were close to the end. Then, at last. Seniors! Our officers were President, Patricia Donovan, Vice President. Jane Carreiro, Secretary, Bonnie Sullivan and Treasurer. Karen Luther. We shared together those last sporting events, the Christmas Dance, and the Prom, waiting anxiously for Graduation Week. No history of our class would be complete without mentioning that for the past five years we have been under the direction and guidance of our advisor, Mr. Michael Walsh. As we leave, we wish luck and happiness to those that remain, and extend our thanks to everyone that has touched us during our time at Bristol High School. We hope that you will remember us as fondly as we will remember you. As we prepare to embark onto adulthood we leave this page as a special thanks. With love, The Senior Class ACKNOWLEDGMENTS The Staff and Editors of the 1979 Green and White would like to extend our special thanks to the following people: Mr. Dennis; our advisor; for taking us on and sticking with it, even when the going got tough. Mr. Domenic Raiola for starting us out and making sure we were left in good hands. We always knew he’d be there if necessary. The secretaries of the Main Office and Miss Sylvia for being both patient and willing. Mrs. Meiggs for putting up with constant interruptions, taking and receiving messages, and allowing us the use of whatever she had — including the telephone. To Mr. Iasiello, Mr. Santo, Mr. Matrone, and Mr. Caromile for taking the time to talk things over and respecting our opinions. To Bruce Stockberger for all his photographs and time. Especially to Bob Kee; our publishing representative; for always understanding and helping to bend the rules a little. We thank Kevin Lombardi for taking last-minute pictures and Nick Guercia for somehow finding a way to get us one-day service. To Mr. Walsh for taking subscriptions and volunteering when asked. To Mr. Cavallaro for taking care of all pictures and being nice enough to take some of the worry off our hands. And last, the Clarks for putting up with 30 hungry staff members, spread out to every corner of the house, all talking at once. If the hands of time were hands that I could hold. I’d keep them warm and in my hands they’d not turn cold. Hand in hand we’d choose the moments that should last. The lovely moments that would have no future and no past. A ll the happy days would never learn to fly . . . A Uni WOb goo, -r w
