During the winter of our junior year, mid-year passed with the usual doleful cries. Then our lives were brightened as we began planning for the forthcoming Junior Prom. The winter months of our senior year were certainly busy ones. Along with the regular school activities, the senior play, followed by the operetta, went into rehearsal, under the capable direction of Mrs. M. Theresa Donovan. The title of the play, which was presented on January 30, and 31, was The Babbling Brooks . The many hours of practice and study became worthwhile, as the cast enjoyed the whole-hearted approval of the audience. The operetta was presented in March and was certainly as much of a success as the play had been. Spring Our first spring at Colt was made happy by plans for the Sophomore Hop—a dance sponsored by the sophomore class. Following this memorable occasion, came final examinations, and then what we all thought to be a well-deserved summer vacation. Preparations for the Junior Prom reached their peak during the spring of our junior year. The hard work of the committee was well repaid by the happy expressions of those who attended. Following the Prom, we all looked forward to our summer vacation, which would bring us to our last year of high school. With the approach of our senior year, dawned a sudden realization that our days at Colt were fast coming to an end. Along with studying for final examinations, every one was busy preparing for Graduation Week. Due to our growing enthusiasm, it seemed as though this week, devoted entirely to seniors, would never arrive. It did, and when the long-awaited eventful week was over, we all agreed it was the shortest five days we had ever experienced. Monday, June,2, the Class Banquet, at which we received our yearbooks, was held in the Colt Auditorium, and was thoroughly enjoyed by each and every one of us. This was followed, on Wednesday, June 4, by the Class Day Exercises. It is on this day that the innermost secrets and ambitions of many of the graduates are revealed by the reading of the wills, prophecies and history of the class. Then Thursday, June 5, 1958—Graduation! The following night, the Senior Reception, the last time we would be together as a class, was held. As we left the school after the dance, the doors that only a short three years before had opened to us, were closing behind us, bringing to an end the best years of our lives. 25
