Their first meet was on Sept. 30, with Wiscasset and Kents Hill at Wiscasset. Al- though Wiscasset won the meet, Mike Cheney ran the 2.2 mile course in 11 min. 30.8 sec. and was first to finish. Their first win was over the Lincoln Academy Eagles on Oct. 20, 23 to 32. Mike Cheney rounded the 2.7 mile course in 14 min. 21 sec. Bristol's first five placed: 1. Cheney 3. Genthner 5. Poland 6. Naylor 8. Bjorkgren. On Oct. 27, the Knox-Lincoln League meet was held at Union. There were 6 schools participating. Mike Cheney placed first for the individual winner and set a new record of 13 min. 39.8 sec., breaking the previous record by a few seconds. The schools finished as follows: 1. Rockland 2. Wiscasset 3. Bristol 4. Waldoboro 5. Lincoln 6. Union. On Nov. 3, the Blue Blazers went to the University of Maine to participate in the state meet.
