COMMANDING OFFICER Commander Robert A. Bellitto, a native of Bronx, New York graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1981. Commander Bellitto ' s initial sea duty was aboard USS MANITOWOC (LST-1180) as CIC Officer and Assistant First Lieutenant. Following his first tour, he served at the following commands: USS PHARRIS (FF-1094) as Gunnery and Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer, Surface Warfare Officer ' s School Command in Rhode Island where he was a Combat Systems Instructor, USS BRISCOE (DD-977) as Operations and Combat Systems Officer, Commander, Carrier Group Four as the Assistant Surface Operations Officer, Executive Officer aboard USS PETERSON (DD- 969), Executive Assistant to the Director, Theater Air Warfare on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations in Washington, DC prior to assuming command of Briscoe in Apnl 2000. Commander Bellitto has received his second Masters Degree in Management from Troy State University. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (4), and Navy Achievement Medal (3). CDR Bellitto resides in VAwith wife, Rita, and three children, Paul, James, and Elizabeth. i
