COMMANDER DESTROYER SQUADRON 22 Captain Hoist was born and raised in IVIiddletown, New Jersey, and is a 1977 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy. His first sea tour was in USS GOLDSBOROUGH (DDG 20) where he received his Surface Warfare Officer pin (SWO). He then served at the following commands: Surface Warfare Department Head School, USS LEFTWICH (DD 984) as Operations officer, USS TRUXTON (CGN 35) as Operations Officer, Com- bat Systems Instructor at Surface Warfare Officers School in Newport, Rhode Island, Executive Officer in USS CALLAGHAN (DDG 994), OPNAV as a member of the Chief of Naval Operation ' s Strategy and Concepts Group (N-513), USS FITZGERALD (DDG62) as commissioning Commanding Officer, OPNAV (N-86 as the Executive Assistant to Director, Operations Directorate of the Joint Staff (J-33) where he headed the Pacific Command Current Operations Division. CAPT Hoist took command as Commander Destroyer Squadron twenty-two in October 2000, relieving CAPT Miller who went on to COMAFLOATRAGRULANT Norfolk, VA. CAPT Hoist resides in VA with wife, Beth and son, Jonathan, d dauahter. Lejah. .±
