Self Adviser Welcome to Scrapbook 88. We wanted a yearbook that we could fill with cherished memories. We thought a scrapbook would be the best way to accomplish this goal. When asked what they would remember most about this school year, nearly everyone said our outstanding TIGER football team. Others thought being with their friends. One person even said she would remember having fun freaking people out with her hair and clothes. There are many memories we caught but some that we didn't. We hope that there is one for you. — Debi Nash Walker 2 Opening Scrapbooks are made ... 4 Opening 1987 HOMECOMING ROYALTY 6 Homecoming Seated: Homecoming Queen — Sironda Stigall Back Row: Candice Williamson — Freshman, Sheila Smith — Sophomore, Opal Derrick — Junior, Kim Vance — Senior, Lonna Murphy — Senior, Jackie Randolph — Junior. I'm very thankful to the Tiger football team for selecting me as their 1987 Homecoming Queen. I also would like to thank God and everyone else who's stood by me through thick and thin. Masters, the principal of Central High School in Omaha, Nebraska, proposed the idea of a National Honor Society. This idea was supported by Edward Pyearson of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, who became the father and founder of the Society. In 1921 it was formally established, with prospective members being judged from the four _ qualifications of the Society: Scholarship, Character, Leadership, and Service. Though hard guidelines to live up to, the Brinkley chapter manages to get involved in many community activities and live up to the other qualifications. In the words of Ms. Mitchell, adviser for the NHS, This Society really helps members have high goals for themselves and to maintain good citizenship. — Joanna Repass New NHS members pledging in. It is the Council that decorates for Homecoming, the pageants, and graduation. It serves as the coordinator for the Red Cross Bloodmobile during the Blood Drive at school. This year the Council posed as Santa and his elves and went to the elementary school to spread Christmas cheer Some of the goals of the Student Council are to provide a format for the students, to be a student voice, and to serve our school. The Council supports the community through its White Christmas program. In the past, Council members participated in the adopt-a-grandparent program with the St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Brinkley. In 1986 it arranged the school’s involvement during Hands Across America. The Student Council President, Leslie Swanigan, would like to thank Ms. Stallings on behalf of the Student Council for putting her time and effort into the Council and for making all of the activities run smoothly. — Terrie Cummins Student Council 37 The Brinkley High School Tiger Marching Band attended two contests this year. Seniors 91 Seniors DREAM CASTLES Dedicated to the Class of '88 Traveling back through the passages of time and crossing the bridge of memories the past comes into focus as our hearts beat to the tune that we have written throughout the sunsets of time. All the pictures of us sharing the emotions of the rain and sunshine bring us to tears because it's so hard to believe that the song will soon be completed by the dancing of the sea's tide. Remembering yesteryear's skyline as the waves were cast upon the sand — the times we spent building our dream castles that turned into everlasting skies of friendships. Many sea shells and stones skipped across the water during some dark enchanted evening in our life but as always the lighthouse within our hearts helped clear the way through the dark path. All of these visions cast upon the wharf bring us closer to realizing that our ships will soon raise their anchors and depart for other ports. The dream castles will once again take shape after we have mapped our course for our voyage through the mystic depths of the sea. Though we must take a voyage far out into the sunset, we do not have to leave our dream castles behind. Our dream castles, along with our everlasting friendships, can continue to build throughout life. Together our ships can cross the bridge of time and gather momentum to strengthen the walls around our dream castle's against the sea's tide. — Kerri Daniel Debi Nash Walker Fredrick Earl Washington LeJuan Washington Timothy Washington Sonya Watts Barbara Jane Weigle Andre Whitby Terry Whitmore 94 Seniors MOST ATHLETIC Lauree Clarke. Closing 157 the graduating class of '88! 158 Closing This year we had so many new people we expected to be loaded down with problems, but we were lucky enough to have a staff that could pull together to help each other out. I’m not saying we didn’t have our share of squabbles, it’s just that they were soon forgotton and replaced with laughter. Our staff tried and tried to meet deadline after deadline until finally our yearbook was finished. It was tough, but it seems as if we’ve captured some special moment for each of you. We hope that ten years from now you can look into Scrapbook '88 and remember this was the year of a football conference championship, when buttons were the craze and designer names were everywhere. Now, I would like to thank Mr. Randolph for giving us permission to run all of our errands. Also, thanks goes to Mr. King, Mrs. Satterfield, Mrs. Morris, and Mrs. Miller for all of their help. A special thanks goes to Patsy Arnett for allowing us to use her shop to take the endless pictures. TO MY STAFF: Ms. Self — You we're always there with good advice, not that I always listened, but some of it DID soak through. It’s hard to believe, but next year I'll miss having you gripe at me for my art lines. Lonna Murphy — It's great having a best friend there by your side to work with. Thanks for always being there for me — willing to help. 1 Terrie Cummins — You are one crazy girl. Thanks for keeping everyone in good spirits with your stories. Janifer Butler — You always said I didn't offer to help you with your pages, but from looking at your layouts they prove you didn't need any. Jenifer Carroll — You always came in with a smile, I think it helped everyone make it through. Amber Hall — You kept everyone wondering, What will she wear next?” It was fun having you on annual staff my last year. Thanks for all of the artwork you put into the annual. Joanna Repass — You always had a positive outlook on everything. Thanks for sharing it with us. Tracy Riggins — You were new on the staff, but you couldn't tell it. Thanks for all of your hard work. Dana Standridge — You are so goofy. You really added a lot of excitement to the staff this year, r pam Walton___You are the quiet one! It sure was nice to have someone who was so levelheaded on the staff. TO THE PHOTO LAB MEMBERS: Stacy Brimer — We never saw you, you are a workaholic. I'm just sorry this is our last year to be able to work together. Allen Hilsdon — The New boy, We never could tell if you were working or flirting. Some of it must have been work from looking at all of the pictures you took. Dawn Ridgeway — We saw you some, but not much. Work, work, work is all you studied. Thanks for all of the pictures you developed. To everyone on the staff and photo lab - Thanks most of all for putting up with me and my temper.
