77 TIGER BRINKLEY HIGH SCHOOL THERE IS NEVER DULL MOMENT A T BHS Students eagerly await the results of the presidential election. Cheerleaders get excited at pep rallies. Fargo students build a new concession stand for football games. Students decorate trucks and cars for the homecoming parade. 2 GAMES PEOPLE PL A Y Students watch breathlessly while the Student Council performs during the orientation assembly held at the beginning of school. Missing class to go to a pep rally is always a lot of fun. 3 FOR THE FIRST TIME For the first time at BHS, boys outnumbered girls in all four grades. Love might be waiting around the corner, in the cafeteria, on the stairs, in the library or in the study hall. So, boys beware of Spring Fever ; there may be a severe shortage of girls. High school is the last place for most of us to enjoy being around so many members of the opposite sex. Here there is a wide variety from which to choose. Enjoy yourself. There is someone somewhere at BHS just waiting for you. 4 YESTERDA Y WHEN I WAS YOUNG Our actions shift from riding tricycles to the most dignified moment of our senior year -Graduation. 5 OUR HOMECOMING October 18 through the 22nd was BHS Homecoming Week. Activities started Monday with students coming dressed as their favorite athlete. Seniors won first place at noon in the car push. Tuesday was hush button day. Girls would lose the buttons if they talked to a guy during the day. Juniors won the Almost Anything Goes Contest on Wednesday, and it was also the hobo dress-uo day. Thursday, the teachers presented a special pep rally with topless cheerleaders. Larry Coleman was crowned Mr. Irresistible. Friday was the coronation of Homecoming Queen Gertrude Williams. The Homecoming Parade followed the coronation. The Tigers lost to Clarendon at the Homecoming Game held Friday night at Tiger Stadium. 6 OUR HOMECOMING 8 HOMECOMING ACTIVITIES BEGIN WITH BUILDING OF FLO A TS 10 HARD WORK OF STUDENTS PAYS OFF IN THE END IN MEMORY Wanda Rhodes Johnny Pearson GOD TAKES GOOD CARE OF ME I NEVER FEEL ALONE OR LOST WHEREVER I MAY BE. AND I NEVER HAVE A THING TO FEAR -GOD TAKES GOOD CARE OF ME. HE WAKES ME GENTLY WITH THE DAWN THEN TURNS IT INTO DAY. AND SENDS THE SUNSHINE OF HIS LOVE TO BLESS MY WORK AND PLAY. AT DUSK HE PUTS THE SUN TO BED. HANGS OUT THE STARS. AND THEN HE ROCKS ME IN HIS SHELTERING ARMS TILL MORNING COMES AGAIN. AND I THINK THAT LIFE IS LIKE A DAY -FROM THE MORNING OF MY BIRTH GOD LETS ME LIVE AND LAUGH AND LOVE AND SPEND A DAY ON EARTH. HE GUARDS ME THROUGH THE AFTERNOON TILL SUNSET’S RAYS ARE CAST. THEN LOVINGLY. WHEN THE DAY IS DONE. HE’LL CALL ME HOME AT LAST. PHYLLIS CULP MABRY ACT1 r VITIES WHO’S WHO For the first time in many years the 1976-1977 TIGER Annual Staff sponsored a Who's Who Contest for the senior class. TIGERETTES VOLLEYBALL TEAM The 1976 Brinkley Tigerettes began their volleyball season with an A and B match against Helena. This is the first year Brinkley had an organized volleyball team; even so. the Tigerettes worked together very well and came fourth in the invitational tournament at Helena, and third in the district tournament also held at Helena. Unfortunately, we moved into the losers bracket after losing to Marianna thus causing us to play five matches straight without rest or food. However we did defeat Marianna, Stuttgart, and Marvell in the five matches. Congratulations Tigerettes and good luck next year!!! A girl's basketball team and a better volleyball team were some of the important changes in athletics. Teachers came and went and, sadly, some of our friends have passed on. On the world and national scene, Watergate was lived through, as was a recession and a fuel shortage. Some of us voted for the first time. All of us spent most of our time enjoying ourselves and putting off until tomorrow important decisions such as what career to follow or what college to attend. Now we must go on to see what the future holds in store for us, but BHS will always hold a special place in our hearts. As we stand at the door of graduation and knock, we hope the future has things in store for us. The class of '77 has cried, fought, and worked together. Now we must move on to better our lives. Some smile, some frown, but we shall never forget the memories we have had together. We love you, BHS!! 73 NJ t .
