Nature I loved and, next to Nature, An. I warmed both hands before the fire of life; It sinks, and I am ready to depan. it Dedication It Is with deep gratitude and appreciation that the Tiger staff dedicates Its 1975 edition to Mrs. J. E. Sims, foreign language teacher at Brinkley High School. She has assiduously channeled her efforts toward instilling in her students a love and appreciation for the finer, cultural aspects of their educational life. Mrs. Sims has that quality that identifies an exceptional teacher, for she can bring out in her students the desire to better themselves and the desire to learn. She has always shown that she believes that the educational process extends beyond the classroom and has guided her foreign language students toward the higher ideals and goals in all endeavors. Her diligence is a constant inspiration to her fellow teachers, and her presence at Brinkley High School has made it a belter educational institution. Mrs. Sims is the epitome of the person referred to in these lines by Thomas Simpkin - 1 want that somehow I may live, Some bit of inspiration give, Some word or deed of mine be spent To lend someone encouragement. That he may nobler live each day, For just one time I pass this way. WITH GREAT RESPECT WE DEDICATE THIS YEARBOOK TO MRS. J. E. SIMS. The staff met in the early summer and began selling ads. In August four staff members attended a three day workshop in Arkadelphia. There they learned new lay-outs, and techniques and drew plans for the '75 TIGER. Soon after school began, the entire staff, consisting of eleven members, began putting the plans and ideas on paper. The next months were busy ones for everybody. Pictures had to be planned, taken, cropped; pages had to be drawn and re-drawn; copy had to be written and typed. February was a joyous month, as the last pages of the '75 TIGER were sent to the publishing company. TOP: Carl Williams helps Harriet Parris as Bernard Pighee and Susan Stafford draw up their pages. The programs came from many walks of life. Some were funny, such as the Lonnie Glosson show and the Big Bubble Gum Blow-Off Contest. Others proved serious like the one pictured here from the Gist House in Little Rock. The speakers informed the students of the harmful effects of drugs and gave their personal testimonies. These assemblies were a welcome change from the daily routine of the classroom. 48 I LEFT: THE STUDENT COUNCIL PEOPLE MACHINE. Reaction • • Newton's law, For every action there is a . . . reaction,” applies not only to science but also to people. Life is composed of actions and reactions. There are the actor's actions and the audience's reactions of applause and laughter; the action of points being made and the reaction of cheers from the stands; the action of the flags being raised and the reaction of patriotiosm; and many others. The story of BHS 1975, can be read not only in the actions or events of the year but also can be read in the faces of the students and faculty. 59 Sirive io Hif Their Goal TOP ROW: Coach Williams, M.
