The smooth landing was due to the expertise of our pilot Bruce Emken and co-pilot Pam Neys. It was my first real vacation in twenty years since I have graduated. Imagine me, Lynn Martin, in Florida! My intentions were to enjoy Disney World for three days, and Pam informed me that quite a few classmates worked in the Orlando area. I hailed a taxi and discovered my driver was Aven Friday. He told me he also drives a race car at Daytona Beach on weekends. As we raced through the streets of Orlando it wasn’t long before we heard the wail of a siren. John Bays-ingar pulled us over. He was familiar with Aven’s driving techniques but was surprised to see me in the back seat. He escorted us on to the fabulous Grand Rose Hotel owned by our classmate, Kim Rose. The hotel manager was John Kell. In the elevator I met another classmate, Dan Keyt, who is an Olive salesman serving the Orlando area. He told me about several other classmates. Dale Hanssen is Chief of Surgery at the Orlando Memorial Hospital but still has a few hives of bees for his own use. Jeff Blundy is a meteorologist on the local television station, Darren Colvin is installing and repairing telephones at Walt Disney World and Denise Porter owns and operates a night club in downtown Orlando. I met Susan Lemke, head housekeeper, as I walked to my suite. She pointed out that Angie Dunn had designed the interiors of all the rooms of the hotel. Some other great people working at this fabulous hotel include Stacey Penrod who is a waitress in the Rose Garden, Tonya Costa as Chef, and Nathan Mangus, maintenance manager. After a great breakfast prepared by Chef Tonya and served by Stacey, I boarded a Tram for Walt Disney World and immediately recognized the engineer, Troy Unkrich. He said that Vince Mills performs at the Country Bear Jamboree and not to miss the show. Also I should make sure not to miss Mickey and Minnie Mouse for underneath the costumes I would find Mark Richmond and Whitney Wineland. Also to my surprise the beautiful Snow White is really Dina Ralston. The crowds gathered for the Big Disney Parade. Leading the Disney Parade Band was none other than Joellyn Johnson looking great in her white rhinestone studded suit. I was amazed to find Anne-Marie Jury, who had flown in from Australia on her first return visit to the U.S., beside me watching the parade. She had just run into Jesse Staley who owns and manufactures stuffed toy characters and had just made a big sale to Disney World. It was wonderful to see everyone. My next destination was Kennedy Space Center. Boarding the bus I noticed that classmate Doug Oppe was driving. We enjoyed visiting about the good times at BHS. I arrived to find lift off for the Space Shuttle in fifteen minutes. The center was well guarded and as I ran through the gates to the Shuttle Launch Pad I was stopped by two military guards, Dave Copeland and Derek Gravitt. They took me over to meet Tina Peters and Susie Rachel, news reporters for Newsweek magazine. They were especially interested in this flight because three BHS classmates were on board. They were Mission specialists Erin Gravitt and Todd Rahn and School Teacher Amy Carlton. After much waiting, we in- 28 quired what was causing the delay and the authorities informed us that Miss Carlton was not on board because Beauty Specialist Tiffany Shearer was styling her hair. Upon leaving Kennedy Space Center I decided a trip to outer space would be my first choice for my next vacation. I returned to Orlando and barely caught my flight to Washington DC on BRETT AIRWAYS. Brett Yemm plays First Base for the New York Yankees but still has time to check up on his employees. He happened to be on the same flight to Washington DC and offered to go with me on my tour of the White House. On our tour we met Deb Cluskey, Secretary of Agriculture, Senators Kim Kelly and Lisa Marsh from Illinois, and Heather Kuhns who was conferring with the First Lady on the designs for her wardrobe for the upcoming election year. Heather told us to be sure and visit two other BHS classmates in the Washington area, General John Mobeck and his Personal Secretary Kris Miller. The last stop of my vacation before returning home to my duties as a pharmacist, was to visit family and friends at Brimfield. I called and visited with a few classmates who had stayed in the area. Tom Hamm is a well known lawyer in Peoria, Kellie McMurtry likes her job as Executive Vice President of a Peoria Bank, Tracy Paceley enjoys teaching Physical Education at BHS, Nona Rogers is head of the local library, and Chris Wineland owns and operates “Pizza Barn, a popular spot in Brimfield. It has been a great vacation, viewing our great country, meeting old classmates and hearing about others. 29 Seniors 87 Seniors 87 Seniors 87 Tiffany Ann Shearer Jesse L. Staley Troy C. Adelaide, South Australia) is home for Anne-Marie and her family, including 1 sister and 4 brothers (one was born while she was in the states). Her home for this past school year was with the Shearer family. Anne-Marie enjoyed having a sister her age and a ‘•cheeky'' brother. Being used to a school of about 1,500 students, Anne-Marie .found the size of BHS quite different. Having a prom and a graduationj ceremony and seeing snow were new experiences for Anne-Marie. The play centered around Joe Pendleton, a boxer, who was accidentally taken to Heaven by Messenger 7013 before his time. Because of 7013's mistake, he and his boss, Mr. Jordan, have to find Joe another body in which to live out the rest of his life. They decide on Johnathan Farnsworth, millionaire who had been murdered by his wife, Julia, and his secretary, Tony Abbott. As Farnsworth, Joe meets Bette Logan and they fall in love. Just as things are going well for Joe, Mr. Jordan tells him he can't be Farnsworth anymore. What will Joe do? The director, Matt Anderson, the cast, and the stage crew (Roger Sandall, Brian Asbell, Robbie Asbell, Steve Bosch, Joel Morris, and Doug Siegel) put in many hours of hard work in preparation for the play and their perseverance paid off when they put on two terrific performances. cast Joe Pendleton. Jenny's Pre-Play Pep Talk Anything Goes is a musical written by Cole Porter in the 1930 s. In its revised version the cast numbered 24 speaking roles with numerous extras. Our production cast was led by John Kell as Billy Crocker and Jenny Pillman as Reno Sweeney. The action took place on an ocean liner bound for England. The play was full of colorful characters including gangsters, missionaries, dance hall girls and sailors. It was a great pleasure for me to produce the musical and my deepest gratitude goes out to all who helped make Anything Goes a success. Director and Producer 78 —H.S.
