Congratulations Mrs. Helms! 7 ADMINISTRATION TAKES CONTROL Keeping the roof on the high school is principal Mr. Mathews (3). Helping him keep the roof on is Mrs. Nan Korondi (2) the high school secretary. Although it has been an unusual year with an eight day teachers' strike, our teachers are to be commended for their efforts once school was going again. Not only for their teaching, but many teachers should be praised for the extra jobs such as being a class sponsor, driving a school bus, coaching, or even being a judge at a pep assembly or science fair. Thank you, teachers, for a job well done A special welcome goes to Mrs. Karen Hudson (2) who watched over all of Mrs. White's classes while she was on a leave of absence. Mrs. Holly More was also gone, leaving her sixth grade class in the capable hands of Mrs. Shirley Keithley (1)- The two absent teachers have congratulations coming for the births of their new babies Mrs White has a new son, Derek, and Mrs More has a new son named Zachary. 13 AIDES TO EDUCATION We were fortunate this year to have such fine help for our teachers in the persons of teacher aides Carolyn Hasselbacher (3), Kathy Neys (4), Jeanne Potosky, and Annette Doughty In supportive as well as learning roles were our student teachers Barbara Krider (2) for Mrs. Miller, Vickie Manus (1) for Mrs. Sollenberger, Connie Wight (not pictured) with Mrs. Flickenger, and Stan McClasson (5) with Mr. Jessen at the high school. The ndianettes have performed a variety of routines this year as Mam Event, Get Off. Heaven Must Have Sent You, and Weekend during the nalftimes of the varsity games (3). Homecoming week, as always, proved to be very interesting this year Many events were planned by Student Council. One of which was Famous Person Day. Only six people out of the student body were brave enough to dress, and the school was honored by the presence of former President Ford (Chris Ryan), the Famous Twins (Penny Miller and Lynette Wright), and by Teresa Moore and Kevin Kreiter who accepted the first place prizes as the Queen of England (2) and former President Nixon (1) respectively. 70 As the week went along more events took place Cowboy and Indian Day (6) had a great amount ot participation with Kelly Miller and Monica Spies taking first prize for their original costumes (3). The Student Council sponsored an ice-cream social that proved to be not only tasty but messy. (4) Also, near the close of the week the seniors really began to get into the spirit of things by painting posters and decorating the gym (5). First place in the poster contest was taken by the Freshman Class. Karen Challacombe looked like she was having fun while decorating the gym for the Homecoming dance (7). 71 HOME- COMING 1979-80 “BABE, I LOVE YOU” 72 Homecoming was held this year on Friday evening instead of the traditional Saturday evening so King Joe Hanks and Queen Jeanne Dunne (12) could reign over the game The gym decorated with red, white, and green streamers created a beautiful Christmas scene Also, for the first time the Student Council raffled off a luxurious limousine which was won by Brian Porter (13).
