CHIEFTAIN BRIMFIELD COMMUNITY UNIT 309 VOFUME FXXXII Contents A Whole Is That Which Has Although in summer the school remains empty, September finds it bustling with activity. Students and teachers are ready for the new and challenging year ahead. At first they are only involved with weekday classes. Soon cross country meets add excitement to weekends. But the activity does not stop here. After school, clubs initiate new members and concerts keep the music department busy. Before long the basketball season begins. The days now become filled with pep rallies, practices, and games. After the last game there is hardly time to rest before baseball and track seasons start. Graduation finally concludes the hectic school year 2 Beginning, Middle, and End. Aristotle 3 SCHOOL BOARD This year's school board had a tremendous job to do keeping our schools running smoothly inspite of bad weather, settling with the teachers' association, and the ever-present financial problems. The Board (1) this year consisted of seven people: left to right: Pete Cahill, Charles Barton (president), )ames Stone, Mary Sloan (secretary), Willard Clark, Gene Coyle, and George Bottenberg. 6 ADMINISTRATION Mr. Ray Mack (2), superintendent, has had a difficult job as the backbone of the administration. Helping him cope with his responsibilities are Bobbi Emerick (5) and Nancy Helms (4). Another branch of the administration includes the principals Mr. )im Criner (3) at the grade school and Mr. Don Mathews (7) at the high school. Helping them are secretaries Chris Bosch (11) at the grade school and Nan Korondi (12) at the high school. 6 7 7 FACULTY The faculty of a school has a great deal to do with school unity and pride. We in the Brimfield School District are fortunate to have thirty-seven teachers who are dedicated to the cause of helping young people grow in knowledge and wisdom. Teachers do not spend their whole week grading papers and making out tests. Many are involved in extra activities outside of school and sponsoring different groups in school. As a result of a survey we took of the teachers, we found out many interesting facts about our faculty. On the next page is some of the information we discovered. £ Jon Davis GS Fifth Grade Ruth Durree Unit )r. Teachers in this district have attended colleges from Maine to Wyoming. Almost 300 years of teaching experience has been accumulated by the Brimfield faculty. Some of this experience has been obtained in large schools and smal schools, some teachers have spent their careers in Brimfield, others in varieties of schools. Many unusual and different hobbies are enjoyed by teachers. Horticulture, skiing, photography, motorcycle touring, sports, woodworking, yoga and telephone counseling are just a few of the leisure time activities enjoyed. There are faculty members with master's degrees and a few others who have been working on theirs. Without the teachers as sponsors, many activities and clubs such as cheerleading, Student Council, FFA, yearbook, and junior High Science Fair would not take place.
