Mixed Chorus 1; Office Assistant 3,4; 11 Foreign Exchange Students Erkki Sjo strand Carlos Mello Brimfield High School was privileged to have two foreign exchange students during the 1971-72 school year. Erkki (Eric) Sjostrand, a Senior, was here for the entire school year. Eric lived with the Harding family during his stay. He participated in the plays and went out for baseball and track. He was a member of the National Honor Society. Eric was also, a candidate for Homecoming King. Eric’s home is in Helsinki, Finland and he has one sister, a twin. His father is a juryman or judge. Carlos Mello stayed with the Ekhoff family and attended Brimfield High School during the second semester. Carlos, a Sophomore, participated in basketball and track. He was a member of the National Honor Society and a member of the Letterman’s Club. Carlos lives with his family of four brothers and two sisters in Recife. Brazil, where his father is the director of a textile firm. 13 DAR Denise Wagner The 1972 recipient of the DAR award is Denise Wagner. The Good Citizenship Award was given to Dan Gutos. Both are annual awards given to seniors selected by classmates and faculty. Denise Wagner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Wagner, RR 1, Brimfield, has been in GAA all four years, serving as Vice-President in her junior year. She is a three-year member of the Spanish Club and the Pep Club. During her junior and senior years she has been an office assistant. She went out for track during her freshman year and served as a librarian during her sophomore year. This year Denise is a member of the Chieftain Staff. Daniel Gutos, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Gutos, RR 1, Edwards, has been a member of the Spanish Club for four years. Dan has been on the basketball team for three years and has also gone out for baseball and track. He has been a member of the Student Council during his sophomore and senior years and served as V-President of his class during his junior year. Dan was king attendant during his freshman and senior years and was also a member of the cast in a spring play.
