JOYCE PULLEN Pudge Red hair doesn’t always mean a fiery temper. SAM NELSON Sam Why not have a lot of fun with a little study thrown in. JOHN SAVAGE Henry I get up at the crack of dawn, stuff up the crack, and go back to bed. ROSEMARY RIEKER Corncob She likes to follow the actions of great big husky men. LINDA SCHLINK Frog A giggle, a dash, a shriek, and a crash. Our junior year was filled with many activities, and it almost turned into a rat-race for many. In November we got our class rings, and many of us were left broke for weeks. Our play Gold in the Hills was given the same month. We had worked hard for weeks--with a little fun thrown in--and we agree that we gave the best performance that we could. In February we decorated the gym for the Valentine Ball. Our theme that year was Sweethearts on Parade, and our candidates were Sara Smith and Tom Goodman. The prom proved to be a lot of work for everyone. Our theme was Fantasyland complete with a castle, elves, and stars. The Top Hats provided the music for the evening. A wonderful meal was served, and a movie was shown in the study hall to complete the evening. 16

Our sophomore year started as just another year. We considered ourselves ’’Old Pros at B.H.S., and we were always ready to help any of the new freshmen with their problems. It became a zany and dangerous year when we entered our Driver’s Ed. class. Everyone managed to nervously pass his test and receive his license, but Mr. Sauerwein hasn’t been the same since. Our Sadie Hawkins Dance was a big success. Pauline Johnson and Bob Foster were elected as candidates to the Valentine Ball, and we were all very proud when Bob was elected King. PAULINE JOHNSON Twinkle Toes Not very tall, but very small; fair and sweet and loved by all. RONNIE JOHNSTON Dog Make much of me, good men are scarce. JOYCE MILLS Skinny Has anybody seen my halo? JOHN MILLER Johnny A woman hater; he hates to leave them. RICHARD MILLER Tiny Never let your studies interfere with your education.

This year we entered the halls of B.H.S. for the last time. Most of as could not believe that we were already seniors, although, we kept saying we couldn't wait to get out of school. The year was filled with tests and plans for the future. Many planned to go to college, nurses training, or into the service. The Chieftain staff was picked right away, and pictures for the yearbook were taken. Plans for the senior trip were discussed--especially the money problems. The F.H.A. girls enjoyed their trip to Chicago in December, and the F.F.A. boys will never forget their trip to Kansas City in October. Martha Carroll and Sam Nelson were chosen for the DAR and Good Citizenship awards. Terry Dungan and Ronnie Johnston were candidates for the Winter Wonderland Ball. Everyone was very excited when Ronnie was elected King. Our ham dinner was a profitable success, as well as the Chieftain Review. Our play was given in April, and we attended the prom in May as guests of the juniors. Then, after four long, unforgettable years, on May 29, 1963, WE GRADUATED. This boy is going places, but where we don't know. ROGER SOLLENBERGER Louie If you ever want to know an anything, ask Louie; if you don't, he'll tell you anyway. SARA SMITH Sally She looks like an angel, she acts like one too, but you never can tell what angels will do. LINDA WALLACE Louise I wish I understood the human race. GARY SYMONDS Lancelot This boy has an idea!
