SENIOR BAND President.......Eleanor Shaffer Vice-President. .Ellen Bruninga Secretary.......Dottie Satorius Under the direction of Mr. Carl Jensen, the Senior Band turned in creditable performances during the school year. They performed at Open House and at all home basketball games. Several ensembles went to the county music contest held in February. They learned to play everything from Rachmaninoff to rock 'n roll. Everyone, including the band members, the student body, and the community, enjoyed the Senior Band immensely this year. The Girls' Athletic Association is a group of girls concerned not only with developing interest and skill in athletics, but also in achieving good sportsmanship. They meet for an hour after school once a week. Each meeting warrants 3 points for each member. To be eligible for a letter, each girl must earn 75 points. The GAA became very active in such things as sending one member to GAA Camp, sponsoring the Necking Dance, holding the first formal initiation of all members, sending a food basket at Thanksgiving to the South Side Mission, and having a chili supper. Pauline Slane Parliamentarian Shirley White The Girls' Chorus, better known as the Golden Tones, made a great deal of progress under the leadership of Mrs. Mildred Rasey. They sang at Open House and for several community groups. The traditional Christmas carols were sung in the school halls. The chorus also competed in the choral contest in April. Having gotten their robes last year, they worked for risers this year. Because there were two periods of chorus, a joint meeting was held every third Thursday in the first semester and every second and fourth Thursday in the second semester.
