Advisor 1959 We are proud to present this 1959 edition of the Spectator. We have endeavored to make this the biggest and best yearbook in the history of BHS. We hope that you will receive as much satisfaction from reading it as we have receded from working on it. The Staff 'Dedication To Mrs. Bernalea McDonald As a token of our appreciation for the patience, untiring efforts, and sincere interest she has shown toward our class, we the seniors of 1959. dedicate this edition of the Spectator. It gives me a great deal of satisfaction to see young people go through the four years of high school, starting through as giggling youngsters and finishing as young adults ready to begin the real road of life. My years here have been most enjoyable ones and I hope in some way have given some guidance to the young people with whom I have worked. I like my job and 1 like the students of the Brimfield schools . in idtratioi ScOTNS°Ro’wLeBob SafrollF ian,Carn- MrS' Lee Challacombe, Charles Hayes. Most important of its duties is the hiring of our teachers and the maintenance of our buildings. The presiding officers are: Fabian Cahill- -President; Charles Hayes --Secretary. MUTT’S 66 SERVICE Phone 204 1 Brimfield, Illinois Message From Superintendent One of the real satisfactions in a teacher's life is to see the students in a high school complete their school work in good order and graduate into a life of larger responsibilities and accomplishments. My sincere congratulations go to the Senior Class of 1959 for completing their high school work. By your patience and perseverence you have earned the reward of being called a high school graduate. As you enjoy these honors for the present time I am sure you realize that life is a continual process of improvement and learning. In a world of rapid advances in the fields of business, industry, and agriculture there are many opportunities for those who are prepared to take them. The Commencement activities will signify that you have completed your formal public school attendance and that you are ready to accept the larger and more significant assignments and challenges of adult membership in our American way of life. Carl Jensen Harriet Peters has served as secretary at Brimfield School for the last three years. The faculty and students will long remember her untiring efforts to help. TOM 04 We the class of 1959 leaving all our mischievousness, meanness, our studiousness, and everything that will go with us, are taking leave of dear old Brimfield High. However before we leave, we have a few articles of which we must dispose. Therefore being of sound mind and attitude, we wish to will and bequeath our many enviable and outstanding achievements to the various unfortunate underclassmen in order that they may not entirely forget us. WE THE SENIORS DO WILL AND BEQUEATH: To Mr. Jensen, our well-worn finger nails to help him get through the years without us. To Mrs. Fitz-Henry, a quiet fourth-hour study hall. To Mr. Foster, all our athletic ability in hopes he will have a more victorious team in the future. To Mr. Jessen, we leave our well-worn history books and a promise to make a history all our own. To Mr. Linn, a year's supply of used stencils for the ones we ruined on the Pow Wow. To Mrs. McDonald, a large economy size of Bufferin for all the headaches we have caused her. To Mr. Peterson, all our excess junk from our lockers for his future scrap drive. To Mrs. Rasey, our extraordinary voices because she will never be able to duplicate them. To Mr. Strobbe, all our left-over food so he won't have to borrow from the Home Economics Department. To Mrs. Voss, our ability to talk for five minutes on an oral book report and not say a thing. To Harriet Peters, our knack of being able to be in the office everytime but the right time. To Henry DeVeries, our uncanny method of cluttering stairs, tracking the halls, and cramming our lockers, all in one enormous sweep. I, Clarence Catton will my car to Bob Roffey. I, Dora Clark will my unheard of expressions to Chris Jensen. I. Chuck Claybaugh will my ability to always get in trouble and never get caught to my brother, Jim Claybaugh. I, George Cluskey will my ability to farm to M. P. Basinger. I, Louise Compton will my commercial talents to Gary Smith. I, Larry Corney will my ways with women to Carl McCoy. I, Lois Courtright will my forgetfulness to Pat Johnson. I, Katherine Daymude will my unusual manner of getting into predicaments to Ruth LaFollette. I, Peggy Johnson will my ability to tell Richard from Robert to Mr. Jessen. I, Steven Joos will my dry sense of humor to Mrs. Voss. I, Ola Keel will my shyness to Shirley White. I, David Leadley will Mary Ann Snedeker back to her class 'til she graduates. I, Charlene Martzluf will my soprano voice to John Kell. I, Jana Miars will all my nicknames back to the people who gave them to me. I, Tom Miller will my ability to ’’worm my way around Mrs. McDonald to David Clark. I. Bill Minor will my ability to make up in one year of high school what I have missed in three years to Ralph Peters. I, Jim Munton will my speed on the basketball court to John Johnson. I, Lyle Nauman will my knack of getting the family car whenever I want it to Betty O'Toole. I, Peggy O'Toole will my expressive eyes to Rita Crew.
