KL!! Just then the meeting was interrupted by Jack Carter, Secretary of War, who asked for ra f' a crew to fly a rocket to the moon to see if it is really made of green cheese. Don Homol, Dave Matthews, and Charlie Hunt volunteered and were finally accepted when they agreed to bring waivers from their wives. As we left the office, the secretary, Marlene Tolman, was talking to two women reporters about the next flight, The reporters were Tracy Forsythe and Eleanor Jackg they work for the Washington Post and cover all of President Danny's acttvittes 'FAC Ojfx We decided to go to the White House to say hello to our old classmate ofa Connie Burge now the President s dretrcran On the lawn we saw none , other than Jerry Clark and Bob Barrett Cutting grass like crazy Who ever would have ff guessed that they had so much energy? We stopped to talk to them awhile and they told us that Kirby Blankenship and Bill Freeland were playing in the backfreld of the Washington Redskins The phone rang when we were rn the White House and the operator was none other than Judy Bucey She told gl' 15' us that we were permitted to go to the airport for the take off Gebo Fleming Duane Welsch, 1 1 til and Glenn Dunn were going on the flight too Glenn was talking to T I Nelson the designer N M and manufacturer of the ship and his assistant Ed Carson Among those watching the take off were Donna Bovrna and F B I agent, Nancy Baker, owner of a chain of 5 and 10 cent stores, Ruth Conner a wealthy senator Nancy Smythe chef at Paulene Millard s famous restaurant The Magumbo Henry Ashton, pastor of Washington s largest Chrrstran Church and JoAnn Hanlrn, head librarian rn the Con gressronal Library Since I have met all of my old classmates and see that they are all doing well I shall be satisfied to go back to our ordinary pattern of living and watt for the return of the space 5435-' M L4 nm ship Maybe we can all meet again and talk over our ex pCl'l6l'lCeS , 6-L pun, k.
