With one exception, however, defeats were by one and two touchdowns, and came as-the result of errors due to lack of ex- perience, often after Brighton had outplayed its opponents most of the Way. ' - The squad suffered from a lack of experience and speed in par- ticulargthe change from the Notre Dame to the single wingback style required time and the team was just beginning to click of the season. d p Day, Bear end, was placed at a tackle position on the 'tean,jand Richard Arnold, senior center was placed on of play also at the close Richard uAll Ke-Washu the second team, while Roger Stannard, junior end, and Ivan Henry, sophomore back, were on the honor roll. Robert Gier was placed at guard on the 1938 second NAll Ke-Washu team. Richard Arnold is the only one of the boys mentioned who will not be back next fall, al- though three capable linemen, Raymond Garrett, Harley Cole, and Clifford Polton also graduate. 9 V, With eight lettermen returning, one transfer from Keosauqua, and the team now familiar with the single wingback system and with complete confidence in Coach Ray Forbes, the outlook is bright for a winning team in l94O.- - ' l .1 ' I Track Track is af minor sport in the Brighton track available for practice, and a heavy music for the spring season, little emphasis This year only six boys were entered in the high schoolg with no program of plays and is given to the sport annual Kc-Wash meet, the only one in which the school participated. Robert Gier tied for first in the pole vault, and Francis Lauderdale,Roger Stannard Ivan Henry, and the mile relay team all placed. Since all these boys are underclassmen the school should have several strongmc1 next year although there will probably be a a well balanced team. lack of material for Three Ke-Wash records are still held by Brighton graduatosg LeRoy Hineart set the present records in the mile and half mile in 1938, while the Brighton relay teax of 1931 set a record which still stands.
