Most momentou ln the history of our country has been the school year 1942 1943 now nearmg lts completion 'Naturally the black clouds of war hovermg over us and the etforts of our natlonal leaders to organlze the resources of our country on a total war basls have had a profound effect on the Brighton Hlgh School student body A most glorlous page has been added to the history of Brlghton Hlgh School due to the whole hearted cooperation shown by all ln aldmg the war effort Smce September 1942 over slxty pupils and five members of the faculty have your d the I nlted States armed forces 'Vlany of our seniors have avaxled themselves of the opportunlty afforded them by the Boston School Committee of early dlsmlssal to accept war defense work However those pupils who continued thelr attendance at school have not been found wanting ln thelr efforts to help carry this war to a successful concluslon Itlrst of all there has been a marked and xr reaslng tendency of the pupils ln applymg., themselves more asslduously and dlllgently to thelr school work and thus better pre pare them elves to perform the duties whlch he lust ahead The purchaslng by puplls of defense stamps and war bonds IS becoming ever greater ln number and amount Many of the older puplls have donated the1r blood at the Red Cross center and those too young for thls have assisted ln varlous scrap drlves knlttlng Junior defense work learning first ald and accepting part time employment wlth the primary 0bJeCllV6 of helplng to fill posltlons left open due to the war sltuatlon May I congratulate those loyal true Amerlcan boys and gurls of Brlghton High School who so sncerely whole heartedly courageously and unselfishly entered lnto thls Important work And ln partlcular do I wxsh to congratulate the members of the Class of 1943 because lt was their leadership lnsptratmn. and guldance which served as a shmlng example to the younger puplls of the school JOSEPH A LEARY Headmaster 6 . .
