'QQ' 'frm- Rhoda Payne, D. Bradley Smith. ART DEPARTMENT Leaming is not merely an absorbing processg part of its value lies in the stimula- tion of creative powers. The creativity which is inherent in a design for leaming is inspired and cultivated in art classes at all grade levels. In addition to a required one semester course in the eighth grade, the Art Department offers students more advanced instruction in the history, theory, and technique of ceramics, sculpture, and the graphic arts. A sequence in art revolves around courses in Basic Art and Drawing and Painting. 26
