Quill and Scroll, meeting at BHS for the first time in many years, raised money to send a junior to Northwestern University to study journalism next summer. To enter this national honorary society, a student must have completed the BHS journalism course, done outstanding work on the school paper or literary magazine, and been chosen by Sherman Selden and a committee of the faculty. Nine juniors and seniors received the honor in 1958-'59. Brighton's literary magazine, the Galaxy, is published once a year with material from the school's outstanding poets, essayists, short story writers and artists. Ellen Rosen and her staff, with the help of Sherman Selden and the English De- partment, select the suitable material.
