HISTORY OF BRIGHTON HIGH SCHOOL In 1928, Brighton High School consisted of twenty ninth and tenth grade pupils who met in the grade school building. The school became a fully ac- credited high school in l93l with an enrollment of sixty-four pupils. Expanding enrollment saw two extensions to the elementary building in 1930 and 1934. The present high school building, erected in 1940, and the new wing. added in l952, accommo- dates grades seven through twelve. The continually rising pupil population will necessitate the conver- sion of the high school building into a senior high school containing only grades nine through twelve. Upon him rests the total responsibility of administering the educational program. He carries out efiiciently the Board's directives and brings before the Board for con- sideration the requests of the teachers, parent groups, and administrators. Aiding Superintendent Painter with teacher selection, in-service training, community relations, and curriculum continuity, Alice L. Foley coordinates the work of the three Brighton schools at all grade levels. 7
