' a , f I .f K I STUDENT cuulcitrg During this school year the Student Council has attempted to talce a more active part in the school lite of the students. It has tried to sponsor projects which would help the war ettort, increase school spirit, and give enjoyment to the students. At Christmas time the Student Council sent greeting cards to our graduates who were then in service. It sponsored dances alter several ot the baslcetball games. It engaged in a campaign over the public address system to further the sale ot vvar bonds and stamps. It obtained information which it passed on to the stu- dents concerning the correct method of saluting the Flag. The Council with the co-operation ot the faculty staged a senior-faculty baslcetball game the proceeds of which vvere turned over to the Red Cross. Junior dramatists rehearse play l.aying Foundations ln the Grade School lies the taslc of founding in the pupils the ability to learn, From the lcindergarten through the seventh grade, a foundation is consistently being laid to insure both excellent scholarly traits and Fine characteristics. Under the able guidance of the grammar school Faculty, a Brighton pupil is instilled with democratic ideals as Well as historical Facts. This is amply illustrated by the Minute Mann Flag which is Flying at the Brighton Grade School because 90 per cent or more of the pupils have bought vvar stamps to preserve their democratic way oi life. Throughout the year, grade school pupils participated in the radio program The Rochester School ol the fixirf, Music appreciation, science, and bool4 reviews vvere featured on this program. Musically minded, the students have a school band, and the Fifth, sixth, and seventh grades have glee clubs. Assemblies presented before the school were planned by many of the pupils. Next year the Social Studies program, which is now incorporated in the seventh grade, vvill be con- tinued in grades 5 and 6.
