An impressive majority of the great edu- cators of today agree that a modern school is sadly incomplete without some expression of student self-government. This need is met at Brighton by the Student Council. Although the powers of our tribunal are, of course, limited, we still maintain that sense of democracy which is so important in our later life as citizens of a great republic. At the beginning of the school vear, elec- tions were held in which class representatives were chosen to act as delegates to the Con- gress, Robert Yates was elected to the position of council president. The Council sponsored noon dancing in the gym during the winter months. mm STUDENT COUNCIL WAGE TwENTy,i3iGHTj

TRAPEZOID Again referring to our theme, we find that a parallel may also be drawn between the progress of our school and that of the school paper, the Trapezoidf' Functioning spasrnodically in its first at- tempt to gain a foothold, the paper has finally evolved into the uTrapezoid of today, a high school journalistic effort of which we are justly proud. Under the editorship of Russell Hopcraft, the laudable accomplishment of earning the general excellence award in a western New York school journalistic conference was at- tained. Again this year the paper took a third prize for schools of its class in the Columbia University Press contest. Illlllll 2 IPAGE THIRTYI
