Class History As we started up the Mountam of Learnmg we were offlcxally 1n1t1ated by the upperclassmen whrch made us Freshmen We elected our class offrcers at our flrst class meetmg Jon Pless was elected Presxdent, Vxrgxl Ramey V1ce President Donna Harrxson Secretary, JoAnn L1ptak Treasurer, and B111 Loveland and Happy Pullen Student Council Representatzves Mr Smxth and Mrs Hawkms were our class advxsors We chose the Carnatxon as om' class flower, Blue and Whlte as our class colors and 'Today we Follow, Tomorrow we Lead as our class motto Football season soon rolled around and we elected Veronlca DeRos1a as our Freshman Queen Attendant Our Freshman Banquet was held on March 22, 1955 We were then one fourth of the way to the top of our Mountam of Learnmg To start the year, we, the class of '58 elected our class offlcers We elected Gayle Roberts as our Presldent, Glona Rxley as V1ce President, Lols Churchill as Secretary, Vlrgll Ramey as Treasurer and Happy Pullen and Lynn Mlchaels as our Student Council Representatives Foot ball season rolled around agam and our Sophomore Queen Attendant was JoAnn Lrptak We had our Sophomore Banquet on November 10 1955 Also, durmg the Fall we wrote our Constltutxon To help to get the money for our Semor Trip we had a Bake Sale Th1s turned out very well The class decxded to have the1r Sophomore Tr1p on May 9, 1956 We chartered two Greyhound Buses and journeyed to the Redford Townsh1p Pol1ce Department, the Detrozt Instrtute of Art and the Detrolt Hzstorlcal Museum lt was a ramy day but fun was had by all Now we were half way up the Mountaxn of Leammg Th1s year we elected Jim McGregor as Pres1dent, Lawrence Keckonen as Vlce Presldent Cathy Bosworth as Secretary, B111 Taylor as Treasurer, and janet Shultz and IqAnn Lrptak as our Student Council Representatwes Our jumor Queen Attendant was janet Shultz Our junior Banquet was on February 14, 1957 on Valentmes Day wlth Ahead to '58 as our theme Fmally we had our long awalted chance to present a play to the whole communzty The play, 'Mr lcebox , was presented on Apr1l 11 and 12 of 1957 Thej Hop was our next b1g event It was held on May 18 1957 at the Lakeland Golf and Country Club Our Theme was Shangr1 la Our last event of the year was our junxor Sl-up Day It was held on May 24, 1957 at Burrough's Farm Every one enjoyed the day Antlclpatmg the heavy schedule of work we would encounter ln our Semor year, we readled our class machxnery for a fast start by holdmg class electrons at this t1me We elected Lawrence Keckonen as our Presldent, Vu'g11 Ramey as Vxce Presl dent, janet Shultz as Secretary Sandra Kelley as Treasurer, Karen I-Iargeshermer and Betsy Crawford as our Student Councll Representatrves Havlng elected our class offzcers at the end of our jumor year, we got rlght down to busmess Our Queen was Cathy Besworth and our Semor Queen Attendant was Karen Hargeshexmer In October we had our Magazine Subscrlption Drive We made our goal whlch was 53,000 and went consxderably over xt On November 18 and 19, 1957, our Semor Play, upmde,-S, Creepers , was held rn the hrgh school gym Durmg Football season we had charge of the concessions wluch helped us ralse funds for the Semor Tnp We, also, had charge of the concesslons durmg Basketball season After our flrst home Basketball game on December 13, we sponsored a dance It was a Sok Hop Our Semor Banquet was held U1 the Sprmg We went to Washington for our Semor Tr1p We were gone for 5 days Everyone who went had a wonderful tune Class Day was held cn june 4 1958 We fxnally reached the top of our fzrst Mountain of Learnmg and recelved our Long awalted dxplomas f 0 . .
