SPORTS COMMITTEE KNEELING: Mr. Barkman. STANDING, Left to Right: Norm Gaines, Marie Renich, Mike Kelly, Maureen Owen, Dave Healey, Jean Gray, Lyle Unger. The Sports Committee has to be one of the busiest organizations on the B.B.I. campus, because of its varied responsibilities. This committee has been mainly responsible for “Friday Night” entertainment. This in itself proves to be a challenging task. Friday night activities have included anything from a basketball game, gymn party, film, hockey game, skating or ice carnival. The aspect of Friday night that seldom changes to get students enthused is lunch and fellowship in the dining hall to end off the evening. In the main, this has been organized by the Sports Committee. This committee has staged various tournaments and bonspiels, and furthermore has been the thrust behind all sports events on the Caronport campus. Athletics are an important part of life at B.I. This committee has made every effort possible to promote athletics in its various phases on the campus so that in the final end, we might leam to do “ALL things to the glory of God.” Intramural sports have given many people an opportunity to participate. Extramural sports have given some an opportunity to excel. This year our high school football team was entered and won the South Central District Football League. We entered a new area of college competition with some of the other schools. Ir. this college league we participated in volleyball, basketball and hockey. We felt that this was a very profitable venture. In ihe spring of the year, we move into the track and field program for the high school. Last year 7 of our young people participated in the Provincial Track Meet. We thank God for the facilities which we have on the campus, and through our Sports Program we trust that Young People will have instilled in them principles which will benefit them as they continue to walk with God. 96
