Student Council President’s Message But we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” 11 Cor. 4:7 We as ministers of the gospel are weak and frail creatures, and being mortal are soon broken in pieces. It is in this state that God’s power can best be exhibited in and through us. Only as we empty our lives of sin and self, to be filled with God’s fulness, can we be useful vessels. Many students have become vessels fit for the Master’s use through the study of His Word, personal communion with Him, and enriching times of Christian fellowship with fellow students and staff members. We also find that the environmental conditions at school serve as the grindstone upon which many rough edges” in our lives are shaped into His pattern for us, His children. Christ’s teaching in Jn 15:16, Ye have not chosen me but I have chosen you and ordained you that you should go and bring forth fruit”, has caused many to realize this call of God upon their lives, and are obeying this call through the practical work outreach. Being thus moulded and prepared, let us fulfil our responsibility to God. Oh to be but emptier, lowlier, Mean, unnoticed and unknown, And to God a vessel holier, Filled with Christ, and Christ alone. Naught of earth to cloud the glory, Naught of self the light to dim, Telling forth His wondrous story, Emptied to be filled with Him. Dave Lanigan 82 Student Council
