' 61 OPTIC PEARL BARBER CAROLE-ANN KETTYLE JAN HARWOOD our (rust trust in my shadow Judges 9:15 REV. H. HILDEBRAND Principal’s Message Every mature Christian student faces both the things that change and the things that cannot change. There are the temporal; there are also the eternal. Since our eyes are to be fixed upon the abiding, a question often arises, “how are we to re¬ gard the passing?” We must leam that certain changes are part of God’s plan for this life. There are changes taking place whether we like them or not. To these we must ' adjust ourselves if we would not be misfits. Then there are changes that we can effect. These we must make for the better in the light of the eternal, and thereby trans¬ form temporal opportunities into eternal dividends. Among the eternal things that change not it is refreshing to know that the Word of God abides. “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the Word of our God shall stand forever.” Isaiah 40:8. Likewise the Christ of God changes not. Therefore “Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow considering the end of their conversation. Jesus Christ the same yester¬ day, and to-day, and forever.” In the consciousness of a changing world that was falling to pieces the writer to the Hebrews possessed this bracing conviction so needed by us today — “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to-day, and forever.” Mr. E. Hiebert, Rev. O. Swenson Rev. H. Edwards, Mr. O. Brygmann 1, Mr. T. Bergren, Mr. P. Fulmore, Rev. H. Hildebrand, Mr. A. Memory, quin, Mr. H. Fenske, Dr. G. Goertzen, Rev. L. Gille President’s Message THE GENERAL BOARD The General Board of the Briercrest Bible In¬ stitute is comprised of fourteen men from various walks of life and church connections, and who come from as far away as the western coast of Canada. The board meets twice each year to review the progress of the affairs of the Institute, and to formu¬ late the general policies to be followed. An admin¬ istrative board is appointed by the general board to carry out these policies and the detailed operations of the Institute. This is a local board, made up of men who live on the campus, with meetings being held weekly. The members of the general board are prayer¬ fully chosen. They are men of God who have proven themselves to be men of Christian character, dedi¬ cation and responsibility in their own communities. They are men who believe implicitly in that which B.B.I. has stood for from the beginning, with its motto “The Word of our God Shall Stand Forever,” and are dedicated to the task of insuring that, in the various phases of its ministry, the Institute shall not waver from “Holding Forth the Faithful Word”. . . in my shadow. Truly the Lord has blessed us in this year of preparation, as we have fellowshipped together in the different phases of life here at the Port. The Gospel of Mark tells us in chapter eleven, verse four of the disciples finding the colt for the Lord Jesus in a place where two ways met. In other words, it was at the crossroads. Cross¬ roads speak to us of places of decision. When standing at an intersection, several ways are open to us, and we are called upon to decide which way we will take. “To every man there openeth a high way and a low, and every man decideth which way his soul shall go.” Today youth stands at the crossroads of decision. We are that youth. I pray as we leave these halls, and reach the crossroad in our lives, our choice will be the choice that Christ, our wonderful Lord, would have us make; the choice which will give us the blessed peace which He alone can give as we serve Him. The Bible exhorts us in I Corinthians 16:13, “Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.” So let us do just that . CO-OPERATION is more than a way of doing business. It is a method by which men of goodwill work together, own together, and share together — helping one another for the common good. CO-OPERATIVES are owned and controlled by the people they serve. Membership is open to all regardless of race, creed, or politics. • CO-OPS do not seek profits, but do provide goods and services to their members at cost. • YOU pay only prevailing prices for what you buy from a Co-op. • YOU are both the owner of the business and the user of its services when you are a co-op member. If the amount you pay for the goods is greater than the cost of doing business, the extra will be returned to you as an owner! • YOU can become a co-op member! In Manitoba and Saskatchewan there are almost 500 consumer co-ops where you would be welcomed as a member!
