PRESIDENT ' S MESSAGE Though the whole world is staggered by a profound concern for the future of our civilization, there must be somewhere a center of calm and assurance. That center can be found only in the mind and in the heart. The fear of war must give place to a deepened confidence in the good that still exists in human nature and in the will of the great majority of human beings everywhere that there shall be peace on earth. The supreme requirement of the hour is a dynamic leadership of youth, clear of mind and clean of heart, dedicated to the cause of peace through the education of all of the children of all of the people in freedom, and in the fellowship of God and of all men. The fate of civilization rests in the hands of those who teach. At no time in our history has the responsibility of the teacher been greater for the preservation of these ideals of civilization which we cherish. May your leadership contribute to the perpetuation of these ideals! May you know and experience the joys and blessings of success in the years to come!

DEDICATION A dedication is a serious undertaking; and we, the Class of 1950, wish to be sincere when we make our dedication to world freedom. Freedom from oppression seems to have no meaning in the world of today. It is a term we read about, only a hope in the hearts of men, a memory for none. In our four years at college we have studied the economic, geographic, scientific, and social aspects of the world. This has placed an enormous responsibility on our shoulders. We have been freed from the ignorance that blinds those who work know- ingly and unknowingly to destroy freedom. As teachers, as leaders, it is our solemn duty to lead our fellow men. Maybe we can start one infinitesimal fire of freedom somewhere— a fire that can be fanned to a blaze strong enough for the entire world to feel its heat! We realize that this will not be an easy task, but we accept it as a challenge.
